The war on the right… could come from GOP!

First things first, let’s stipulate that if there’s a government shutdown at the end of the month — and I continue to doubt there will be — it will happen because House Speaker John Boehner chooses to precipitate one.

He can always partner with Democrats to pass a temporary, uncontroversial government spending bill if he wants to, because almost all Democrats will vote for it, and there are still a few dozen Republicans in the House who are both sane and unintimidated by the threat of a primary challenge from the right.

Whatever happens is his decision. The latest doomed-to-fail idea floating around top GOP circles is that leadership should try to trick rank and file Republicans into voting to fund the government by passing a larded-up debt limit increase first — even though the debt limit deadline is a few weeks off — and pretending they won’t cave on it later.

Wrong, butthead. If the Republicans fund the entire government other than the unconstitutional, unwanted, unneeded, economy-killing, jobs-killing ObamaCommieCare and pisses off the petulant, incompetent, wannabe dictator, B. Insane Obama to the point he shuts down the government as he threatens, then HE shut it down, NOT the Republicans!!

But whatever. Call his bluff. The tyrant cannot cancel the social security checks or military pay as he threatens. If he wants to see the American people march on Washington with pitchforks and torches and blood in their eyes, he should go ahead try it!!

Other than that, we won't be, but a whole lot of people are going to be surprised that America can continue perfectly fine without the federal government. We the people established America. And we the people established the states. And the states established the federal government and restricted it to only certain enumerated powers. It's way past time that we the people and our states reestablish the constitutional limits on government. We don't need and do not want an all powerful central government lording it over us!! And we do not want the unconstitutional ObamaCommieCare!!

Don't tread on me!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

Let's not. Let's stipulate, as you did, that failure by 0bama to agree to a budget passed by the House of Congress that is Constitutionally responsible for bills dealing with revenue would make him, and him ALONE, responsible for shutting down the government.

Why do so many folks view a government shutdown as a bad thing?

They could shut that crap down six months out of the year
and still perform all needful functions and screw up a lot less.

Well oh Johnny Boner could push a C.R. until the first of the new year. That would allow him to escape the budget battle, give the Country 3 full months of Commie Care.

The House would vote in a new Leader after the first of the year. Hopefully someone with a Set. By then the market will have tanked, the masses will be livid with Commie Care and their costs and you have all those Demonrats trying to get re-elected...

Being exposed on occasion to leftist tools such as Salon, MSNBC and the former NEWSWEEK makes me glad to be a republican and to be reviled by them. Since Newsweek sold for a dollar, perhaps some lucky leftist can acquire both Salon and MSNBC for the same price. I would be the first to say that they would be over priced as was Newsweek.

More drivel from Salon. If Salon was a TV network - they would be MSNBC.

The GOP has not threatened or desired to shut down the government. No one in the GOP has proposed doing it.

Not that the truth has ever stopped the media before.

First things first, let’s stipulate that if there’s a government shutdown at the end of the month [SNIP] it will happen because House Speaker John Boehner chooses to precipitate one.

Ahhh, the delusional Left. Getting their ducks in a row to blame the Repubs if their beloved gub'mint shuts down. This is why conservatives need to be in front of cameras 24/7 saying if the Senate doesn't pass their bill, it's the Dems fault for a shutdown. If the Zero King refuses to sign a bill, it's his fault.

Don't waffle! Don't be afraid of a shutdown or being blamed for it. Just keep saying "the Dems wouldn't pass it or Obama wouldn't sign it - ask them why they shut it down".

“Rebellion is brewing!!’’<< I sure as hell hope so. My mother-in-laws medication has doubled in price in just six months. The poor woman was practically in tears. Her late husband sweated out Saipan and Iwo Jima for this!?!

I’ve posted this a number of times and do so again inasmuch as THIS is a constantly recurring problem and some may not grasp how widespread it is.

If you want to know why I’ve cautioned my many friends to NOT SEND THE RNC A NICKLE, READ ON.

Over the years – when, to steal a line from Billy Joel, I wore a younger man’s clothes – I was involved with several pretty solid conservative candidates for Congress. One was a Democrat (Lawrence Patton McDonald) – because that was the only way he could win in that district. Those old-timers who know Larry’s record will tell you that he was a solid an anti-communist America Firster and more Republican than the Pubbies in nearby districts at the time. (His mother’s cousin was General George Patton from whom he got the middle name – and his incredible resolve and love of this country.) How ironic that he, like General Patton, was also assassinated by the communists they both despised.

Those other candidates ran as Republicans. Because I was a rabid Bircher back then (still am philosophically!), those candidates had to pass my rigid litmus test or I went looking for someone who did. For that reason, I hooked up with what the TRADITIONAL country club Pubbie establishment types believed were too radical for their refined tastes.

As those campaigns began to unfold and it became clear to the country clubbers that these guys 1) had a shot and 2) were pretty independent thinkers who would be hard to keep on the reservation once they got sworn in, the local Pubbies communicated that information to the Republican National HQ types who rather quickly sent in campaign “professionals” ostensibly to lock up the impending victory.

Instead, in nearly every case to which I was privy, these “professionals” proceeded to TORPEDO our guy’s campaign in subtle but effective ways.

From that experience I can tell you that the Pubbies at the HQ in D.C. would rather have a Democrat win a given district than have a pubbie up there who would embarrass them by refusing to follow the party line.

If YOU become involved in campaigns for solidly conservative, America and Constitution loving, hard-nosed, independent thinking candidates in 2012 and beyond – and I pray many of you do — please DO NOT trust any of those folks from GOP HQ in Washington. If they want to send you no-strings cash for your campaign, take it. If, however, they “suggest” sending in one of their “professionals,” tell them to fuggetaboutit.

They ARE WHO GOT US INTO THIS MESS AND THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!!!!

“The common and continual mischief of the spirit of Party is
sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to
discourage and restrain it.” G. Washington

(BTW, My genealogical research informs me that my 5th great-grandfather, one John Carpenter, was one of George Washington’s Virginia neighbors and fought with GW in the French and Indian War and the Revolution. Prior to that, John traveled with GW during his survey of the Northwest Territories.)

Larded-up debt limit..

Yaknow lard gets a bad rap..

It can be used for lots of stuff

Greasing pans, waterproofing skin,

But perhaps its most effective use

Is to grease the skids of the sled

The scoundrels in DC in both parties

Need to be run out if town on, bells and all

....then HE (Ubama) shut it down, NOT the Republicans!!

Precisely correct.

Naturally, the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms will try to spin a shutdown as the Republicans' "fault", but since those newsrooms no longer hold a monopoly on the selection, dissemination, and spin of the daily news like they always did in the past, their spinning will only expose them to the ignorant masses as the propaganda arm of the Democrat party they've always been.

There's just too much internet, talk radio, twitter, email, and facebook for the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms to get away with their brazen lies like they always could before.
