During the 2008 presidential campaign, the New York Times ran an article on what psychologists call the "impostor phenomenon." To measure it, they ask test subjects questions like, "At times, I feel my success has been due to some kind of luck" or "I can give the impression that I'm more competent than I really am."
Although the article had nothing to do with Barack Obama, he would surely have scored off the charts had he answered those questions honestly. He was a reasonably bright guy but not the "brilliant" author and savant white liberals thought him to be. His "luck" derived from the fact that he grew up almost exactly as those liberals had but in the body of a black man. Hearing him they heard themselves. Seeing him say what he said surprised them, validated them, delighted them with its very whiteness. Although they would be the last to admit it, they suffered conspicuously from what George Bush has called "the soft bigotry of low expectations."
In speaking of Obama in early 2007, Joe Biden framed those expectations with dunderheaded clarity. "I mean you got the first mainstream African-American presidential candidate who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy." Not to be out-patronized, Senate majority Leader Harry Reid found comfort in Obama's having "no Negro dialect." The always-observant Shelby Steele summed up the phenomenon, "Blacks like Obama, who show merit where mediocrity is expected, enjoy a kind of reverse stigma, a slightly inflated reputation for 'freshness' and excellence because they defy expectations."
Throughout his ascendancy, Obama has had to fake something else besides competence, namely a belief in America. This trumpery was on full display during Tuesday night's Syria speech.

In these last few months, the world has seen what happens when an intellectual lightweight with no fixed principles beyond the vestigial Marxism of his youth faces off against an unscrupulous post-Marxist survivor like Putin. For those paying attention, it wasn't hard to predict.
And Americans can fake the presumption and the once-extant feeling of security that there is consequence, there is some accountability, for spitting on our Constitution and throwing our rights into the gutter, while chanting the praises of “diversity” of cultures ALL OF WHOM are just dying to get HERE, I guess, to show us how GREAT their culture(s) is/are....kind of like a traveling culture exhibit at a trade show or something.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane and review the typical Axelrod/Obama campaign strategy. Obama became a U.S. senator only by virtue of henchman David ("I'm Harmless") Axelrod's former employer, the Chicago Tribune, ripping open the sealed divorce records of Obama's two principal opponents.
One month before the 2004 Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, Obama was down in the polls, about to lose to Blair Hull, a multimillionaire securities trader. But then the Chicago Tribune leaked the claim that Hull's second ex-wife, Brenda Sexton, had sought an order of protection against him during their 1998 divorce proceedings.
Those records were under seal, but as The New York Times noted: "The Tribune reporter who wrote the original piece later acknowledged in print that the Obama camp had 'worked aggressively behind the scenes' to push the story." Many people said Axelrod had "an even more significant role -- that he leaked the initial story."
Both Hull and his ex-wife opposed releasing their sealed divorce records, but they finally relented in response to the media's hysteria -- 18 days before the primary. Hull was forced to spend four minutes of a debate detailing the abuse allegation in his divorce papers, explaining that his ex-wife "kicked me in the leg and I hit her shin to try to get her to not continue to kick me."
After having held a substantial lead just a month before the primary, Hull's campaign collapsed with the chatter about his divorce. Obama sailed to the front of the pack and won the primary. Hull finished third with 10 percent of the vote.

Well said.. The Navy Yard shooting was a ‘live exercise’ to bolster DC security following a visit by over 2 million bikers. If Aaron Alexis heard voices and suffered from PTSD, he was the perfect candidate for recruitment for this mission. Chris Kyle’s killer also suffered from PTSD. I have no doubt that was a ‘hit’.

Dr Cashill is actually misapplying the “Imposter Syndrome.” The malady describes someone competent who does not believe in his own competency, but attributes his success to external factors, luck, etc. That cannot apply to Obama. If anything, no one believes in Obama’s competency more than Obama. Possibly a more accurate diagnosis would be the Dunning-Kruger effect, in which an incompetent person cannot be made to see their own incompetence, more the province of a narcissistic personality, whereas the imposter syndrome is an expression of self-doubt, not something we would expect from Obama.
