A video (from the Daily Caller) reveals the Republican Party's real angst about the Tea Party.
David Brooks (the Gray Lady's idea of a housebroken conservative) laments, to PBS's Judy Woodruff that Republican legislators like Ted Cruz aren't "normal members. . . going to Congress to create coalitions, make alliances and . . . pass a lot of legislation" while interesting themselves in "the perks . . . the leadership has to offer." Indeed, Brooks asserts, "They're not [real] legislators" at all -- just obstructionists "who want to stop things."
All of which conversely implies Brooks believes real legislators are ones who go to Congress only because they can pass lots of legislation, create coalitions, make alliances, interest themselves in the perks the leadership has to offer, avoid obstructionism, and fail to stop anything.
"The Tea Party types," says Brooks, are "running against the Republican establishment[,] . . . having a very obstructive role, and making John Boehner's life even more difficult." Indeed, Brooks moans, they have no real policy goals at all and "Their [only] object is to take over the Republican Party."
Let's devoutly hope Brooks knows whereof he speaks. One could hardly ask for a better divination of what the Tea Party's real aspiration should be than Brooks' denunciation of Ted Cruz and what Mark Shields (Brooks' Democratic "sparring partner" in the video) disparages as "these people . . . the Tea Party people . . . the ruin or rule people -- mostly ruin because they're not really interested in ruling . . . " Let's hope so because the present establishment duopoly which is, in fact, very much interested in ruinously ruling constitutes, in reality, little more than a one-party state in which either party, if the other didn't exist, would have to invent it...

Run, Ted, RUN!!
A century of liberalism (socialists/progressives/statists) has nearly destroyed our republic. We must elect tea party patriots to turn it around!
Run, Ted, RUN!!
If I didn’t like what Ted Cruz was saying already, just the fact that they all hate him enough to vote for him!
The Tea Party demands that John Boehner stand for something, Obama requests only that he kneel.
Heck, they're going to try to blame the economic doldrums on him and the effort to defund Bambi care.
We've got to neuter these people........
“Their [only] object is to take over the Republican Party.”
Actually our objective is to defeat the democrat party,
but I’ll take over the republican party as a start.
Living in the country, I sometimes hear the neighbor’s jackass bray. Brooks is like that.
Run the GOPe out of the country!
WAAAAHHH!
” you are playing by the ‘rules’ “
1. The facts contained in that paragraph are fuc*ing disgusting.
2. Some people, ie Brooks, just need their asses kicked and told to never open their mouths or put pen to paper ever again.
I’d have to say, he’s my guy for 2016.
So this clown thinks a “good Republican” is one who is “interested in perks”?!@$$!
And since when is obstructing bad ideas a bad thing?
I guess Churchill was an obstructionist to Hitler.
Yes, there are some things which require new laws. But, a lot of the things they want stopped SHOULD be stopped (and reversed).
What’s so hard to understand?
I think they’ll go after him as long as they can. From what I read and watch about him, he’s very focused on undoing the damage that has been done within the government machine. I always wondered, naively, why guys like Cruz were never invited on the Sunday shows. Not that I watch those obama sycophants anyway. But, it was pointed out that they don’t want guys like him on, because he would school each and everyone of them on national tv and they don’t want that. Never actually took the time to think about it like that.
However, if Cruz ever took some time to deal directly with the likes of Brooks and his ilk, it’ll be a bad day for the other guys. They are clearly outmatched with a guy like Cruz, they know it, but they are insulated by being on tv or writing a story.
Put the two of them in the same room and have a debate. It’ll be fun to watch, but won’t be fair.
It was a great interview for Cruz, it showed exactly why they fear him, he destroyed her with even faintly sounding like a crazy extremist. I think you're right, they're not going to have him on often, just because he would school them all.
So this is the meme of the day; it’s all the TEA Party’s fault. It sounds familiar...where have I heard this before?
Oh yeah; substitute “kulaks” for “TEA Party.” Right out of Stalin’s playbook.
“The Tea Party types,” says Brooks, are “running against the Republican establishment[,] . . . having a very obstructive role, and making John Boehner’s life even more difficult.” Indeed, Brooks moans, they have no real policy goals at all and “Their [only] object is to take over the Republican Party.”
Yep, for starters....sounds sooooo goooood.
GO TEA PARTY!!!
You can almost feel the beads of sweat on the Leftists foreheads as they go insane publicly!
We won't have to vote out any Dems next year. All the Socialists will be at the Funny Farm.
“More thorozine for Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Reid, and a majority of the Senate.
