A mere three weeks remain before the Obamacare exchanges open for business. The likely result will be the closing doors on Main Street, as shopkeepers and entrepreneurs shut down, unable to make ends meet. Its clear that the wounded economy cant cope with the exploding costs ahead.
Ohio announced that premiums would rise in the individual market by an average of 88 percent next year. Premiums will rise 72 percent in Indiana, 125 percent in Wisconsin. Even California, with its relatively robust individual market, is bracing for increases of 66 percent.
The Obamacare train wreck bearing down on us is about far more than higher costs. A study by University of Chicago economist Casey B. Mulligan documents the perverse Obamacare incentives that encourage Americans to become much less productive. He estimates that the legislation acts as a payroll tax increase for about half the working, non-elderly population earning an average weekly wage. Obamacare will turn those who work hard into losers, declaring part-timers the winners.
A typical family of four with an income of up to $94,200 will get a generous subsidy for health insurance if the head of the house drops out of full-time work and becomes a part-timer. Its an implicit payroll tax increase of almost 5 percent. The net result is a reduction in productivity throughout the economy.
Imposing a large new tax will persuade many that long hours are for suckers. Many will decide that it isnt worth the effort and drop out of the work force. Why work full-time to see the money taxed away? Better to work fewer hours and keep the same after-tax income.
Obamacare imposes additional pressure on bosses to move employees to part-time status to avoid large penalties by the IRS. Businesses and some public-sector employers have begun slashing their employees...

The pathway to single-payer will be a bumpy one.
To delay this would be to throw the 2014 election. Unless the public feels the pain of Democrat policies, they’ll continue to buy the lies.
Don't cry for them Argentina.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
We conservatives are often criticized by the leftists who claim that VOTER ID’s are a bad idea
- because VOTER ID’s wold suppress voter participation,
- because of the burden of acquiring such an ID
-— that is, going thru the government’s paperwork process.
Which process, pales when compared to the weight upon a person, who *MUST* comply with all the paperwork tonnage of ObamaCare.
Exactly right S_T_A. Here, in Canada, we’ve been fixing medicare continuously for 50 years (most often, by the application of additional government funding). It’s not the same system as Obamacare — but the principle is the same. No organization ever just willingly withers up and blows away. That’s especially the case for public-sector organizations. Once Obamacare is launched, millions of people will have a strong vested interest in keeping it going.
When California Obot voters like my sister and her cop husband see their health care costs rise 66% in one year, there's going to be hell to pay at the ballot box and in the press.
The citizens of this country are going to make Democrats' lives a real nightmare after the pain hits home.

This is how I suspect the Dems will solve the Obamacare fiasco for their constituency.
New Minimum Wage = (40/29) * Old Minimum Wage
So for an old minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, the new minimum wage that Dems will push for is $10 per hour.

Problem is that most of us will end up in the same hole...

“The likely result will be the closing doors on Main Street, as shopkeepers and entrepreneurs shut down, unable to make ends meet.”
Yeah, close down business for obozo care. Speaking for myself it ain’t gonna happen.
But the GOP has to work on immigration reform!
They’re living in the shadows!
Personally, I’m shocked. I never expected this. (/s)
In addition, the parasitic 47% would ALSO be bought, vote-wise, by FORCING wealth-redistribution to pay for Insurance for those ALREAY living off others.
Americans being forced to take the Obamacare treatment will soon realize what having a demented Democrat majority means.
In terms of coverage, BoehnerCare has the most impact on so-called Cadillac plans (labor unions, congress) and individual non-employer based catastrophic plans. It reduces coverage at the top, and establishes new minimum coverage and costs at the bottom.
Many of the uninsured will be persuaded to buy coverage through the new health exchanges, bit most will not. The “bending the curve” expected will not occur and the economics will fall apart for insurers and State budgets.
Add this to the disincentive to work expressed in this article and you have a much larger effect than a mere train wreck, you have fundamentally changed America forever.
Unfortunately you’re correct. It will have to collapse under is own weight before it fails and the defund effort will be as productive as the Fast and Furious or Benghazi investigations. This portends a long, chaotic and agonizing three and half to four years for America.
Oh, yeah, as always they were instrumental in writing law; here the OCA. This is the tried and true blueprint for large connected crony interests to build their market domination by eliminating competitors. The subsidizing of the dependent class with redistributed earnings is only the latest twist.
Awesome post. We as a nation are at a bifurcation point. We either go toward “single payer” (an Orwellian term that make me vomit) or realize that “healthcare” is just another service/commodity like groceries or plumbing services, etc. that the free market can handle better. When the government controls “healthcare” it owns your body and you are a slave.
The Yellow Pages have shrunk because business owners realize only some of those over 70 still use them, and no one else. Everyone else uses Interent search engines.
