Lashawn Marten suspect in fatal hate attack on Jeffrey Babbitt in Union Square says he's not racist

Marten, who is black and allegedly yelled 'I’m going to punch the first white man I see!' before hitting the white Babbitt, says from jail 'I’ve punched white people. I’ve punched brown people. I’ve punched Hispanic people.'

Lashawn Marten in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sept. 10, 2013. Marten was charged with assault in attack on Jeffrey Babbitt, 62, of Brooklyn, who later died from his injuries.

The ex-con accused of targeting a white man for a fatal punch because the man was Caucasian claimed Thursday that he’s an equal opportunity aggressor.

The latest, last time I checked (and there were probably dozens more at the time and since then), is an elderly Asian woman locked in the trunk of her own car by three black savages and the car set on fire. She died in the trunk of her own car. It was, as usual, an “apparently random” crime.

It has been this way for decades. The media makes national headlines with isolated instances of black on white racial violence (such as the dragging death of James Bird) while mostly ignoring hundredfold more common cases such as this one.
