On Tuesday, after John Boehners last gambit to pass a government-funding bill ran aground in the face of a Tea Party revolt, a reporter asked the House speaker if he had any idea what hed do next.
No. Do you have an idea? Boehner replied, according to Politico. Theyll just shoot it down anyway.
Boehners dilemma -- finding a way to satisfy the right wing of his caucus that doesnt involve shutting down the government -- isnt new. The debate rages in Washington over whether he has an impossible job or whether hes just terrible at it, but it doesn't really matter. Throughout it all, as Congress lurches from crisis to crisis, he has always evinced a survivors weary optimism that this, too, shall pass. But now he is finally, totally, out of ideas.

Boner’s too busy looking for his gonads to do anything else, ya think? Both hands and a mirror probably wouldn’t help the eunuch.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
What Boner should do next is RESIGN!!

I say leave it alone and then let it hit everyone...the Unions will kill Obamacare..why should we take the hit for something that the Unions will kill off.and let everyone —individuals—get the $$ hit.

So how many decades will that take? and why don’t you think the unions won’t be exempted with their members given huge subsidies.. and how many more decades to re-create what we had...

Agreed. What a grand buffoon.

He is ineffective, irresponsible, inept and totally lacking in support of the conservative ideals of the Republican party. Since he is at a total loss, let me assist him by recommending this, the most responsible course of action, resign. To paraphrase Dr. McCoy, Your career is dead John, dead!

They can write thousands of pages of budget documents yet not strike one page from it. Hilarious.

That's all true, but doesn't he have such a trained, practiced mellifluous voice that makes it sound like he knows what he's doing when, of course, he surely does not? (He took speaking lessons, I suppose, when he was named to the all important second-in-line position to the Presidency, namely, THE SPEAKER OF THE WHOLE BIG HOUSE.
To: Neidermeyer
You make good points...I just don’t think you can defund an existing law when we don’t have the presidency or the Senate.
and why aren’t the republicans hammering home a message of a simple, easy to grasp replacement plan of Obamacare?
BTW your screen name is terrific.
To: Irenic
"He could consult with Putin...." Putin speaks in terms of strength. Boehner wouldn't understand a damn thing he said.

All he has to do is pass a budget, not more of these CRs that kick the can down the road, minus funding for Obamacare.
If the Senate kills it, it's on them and Obama.
But the GOP sucks at messaging.
