Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry appear relieved that the proposal from Moscow provides an opportunity to avoid a warof which neither of them was particularly convinced. Despite all of Washingtons recent frustrations with the Russian offer of asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden, the US government knows that a partnership with Putin is both possible and necessary.
One reason for this is the fact that armed Islamist extremism, which is growing in strength from Kabul to Damascus, is more of a threat to Russia that it is to the US. It was no accident that the Sept. 9 meeting of the Russian Security Council, chaired by Putin, was focused on the situation in the Muslim region of the North Caucasus.

Remember Beslan as well as 9/11.
The PC crowd is lamenting Putin’s jihadophobia.
On FNC a couple of days ago, Judith Miller said Putin don’t want the Jihadis taking over Syria
Not the desire for warm-water ports that’s preoccupied Russian leaders for centuries?
Its really scary. Putin makes a point about political Islam that the average American understands and agrees. If a legitimate poll were taken today an embarassing percentage of Americans would rate the President of Russia a more effective leader than the current President of the United States.
The difference is that Barry thinks the jihadis are his friends. The other difference is that, like him or not, Putin cares about the interests of his country. Barry, assuming he considers his country to be the US, does not.
Russia has Islamic countries right in it’s backyard.
In the ongoing fight against Islamic militancy in the form of jihadists that threaten the world, the U.S. and Russia are going to be partners, even if that partnership is tenuous and superficial. The question is whether Russia or the U.S. will be leading the fight. Today, with Obama in the presidency, it appears as if Russia is leading while Obama follows, all the while pretending that Putin’s diplomacy approach to Assad’s chemical weapons was really his (Obama’s) idea. Sure it was.
The fact that Putin fears what jihadis would do to his country puts him way out in front of Obama.
Either he is smarter than Obama or Obama is really a pro-muslim traitor as many of us believe.
Or more likely, both.
Very understandable and appropriate. Why doesn’t our government abhor jihad, instead of helping it?
Fear of Jihad?
How about courage to face jihadist..
The jihadis ARE his friends, I fear.
Because someone told us it is a religion of peace...
That is one difference.
Another is that the jihadis know that Barry is their friend and Putin is not.
The US and Russia are not going to be partners in the fight against jihad as long as O is running things in DC.
Both.
The Russians, Chinese, Indians, (and the Burmese, Indonesians, Israelis, Egypt) all have major problems with the jihadis. I wonder when these countries will decide to work as allies against them.
... and we have a Ghazi in our white house.......
We have already been conquered.
Or more likely, both.

I vote both also.
