According to the Wall Street Journal, the Environmental Protection Agency will propose new rules next week banning the construction of new coal power plants in the United States that do not meet expensive new and ridiculous efficiency standards. The new standards will force power plants underground, literally.

And yesterday, Richard Trumka, the President of the AFL-CIO and former president of the United Mine Workers, announced that the AFL-CIO would permit a variety of left-wing groups including radical environment groups membership in the AFL-CIO.
We got oil! Can’t drill for it
We Go shale! Can’t process it
We got Coal! Can’t burn it
Cheap energy equals higher standard of living, so simple. Of course I’m not a choom gang member, so what do I know
The rest of us sure are getting what they voted for, aren’t we?
Would probably still be cheaper and quicker to build than a nuke plant..............
How about natural-gas-fired gas turbine power generation stations? Will they be similarly regulated out of existence?
There is a way to burn coal cleanly, with NO fly ash, NO heavy metals, and NO sulfur compounds. A technology called “Plasma arc gasification”, which was developed for the reduction of organic matter in trash and converting the end product into syngas, slag, and heat, could be applied to crushed coal in a water slurry just as well. The reaction is carried on in an inert gas atmosphere (usually nitrogen), and the output is syngas (hydrogen and carbon monoxide), an excellent fuel that burns with no ash and fully combusts the carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide, a product essential for the proper growth of plant life.
Coal gasification is not that hard, and the output in total BTU energy released is almost fully reclaimable on an industrial scale. The capture of the carbon dioxide in the exhaust stream can be accomplished by a more efficient reclamation of the excess heat by the cooling effect of incoming slurry in a heat exchanger, which would use the heat to flash the water in the slurry mix to superheated steam, the real transfer medium, and the crushed coal falls through the plasma arc.
This is what happens when Congress creates agencies and abdicates its power to them, i.e. the president is the defacto king and can make up any rule that he wants.
It's time and long past time to fire virtually everyone in Congress and shut down the EPA, (along with much of the rest of the feral government, to be sure.)
there is nothing honorable about the EPA
Cut EPA budget by 90%.
Pass law in Congress to neuter most EPA Reg’s.
I thought Nixon created the EPA with an Executive Order? A simple Congressional override of the EO would do it, and a Libertarian minded President could just EO it away. As I understand it.
Thanks for the post. I remember the jingle from the Electric companies in the 50’s about building plants to lower electricity costs it had a bird saying “cheap, cheap, little bill.”
and that was on the Chicago television stations. Now, its big bill or no electricity at all. movement to 3rd world status is increasing.
Overturn Wickard v Filburn.
The first 6 months after Obama’s Presidency are going to be quite amazing. IF we make it.
You're absolutely right!
Anybody who wants to know where this goes should look at Germany.
No news here. Obama said he would do this, just like he said he would “fundamentally transform” America, share the wealth, and punish his enemies. The problem is, no one takes him seriously when he says these things.
This must not be a problem - the Republicans aren’t complaining, so I guess they approve.
Defund it, dismantle it, box it up, ship it in crates to China in full payment of our debt.
And stick that arrogant POS Gina McCarthy in one of the crates.
They’ll get food stamps and Barrycare waivers.
It’s all good.
How are the dolts planning to charge all those Volts?
