Heres a bit of Labor Day irony. The man who led the historic 2005 bus and subway strikewhich forced millions of commuters to squeeze into packed cabs, pedal bicycles they hadnt used for years and hike to work like intrepid Boy Scoutsis now a licensed cab driver.
Roger Toussaint, the fiery former president of Transport Workers Union Local 100, got his permit in December to drive a taxi in Cobb County, Ga., where he now lives, records show.
Driving a cab is a dignified profession, Toussaint, 55, said during a telephone interview last week.

Driving a cab is indeed an honorable profession.
And if that dolt successfully delivers even one passenger he’s accomplished more than he ever did as a union crook...er...union president.
Well, said.
55? Retired from the transit agency with full pension, eh?
Then why would he still be working?
He needs he money to pay for his Obamacare?
The guy is pretty smart...get huge pension and leave the high taxes...except he will for the rats
Given the nepotism and job selling (by state reps), and the person started at age 18...that's an awful drain on the future commuters.
It’s called double-dipping. Gubbermint union employee types do it all the time. They can retire so young with a full pension that there is plenty of time to go get a second job and stuff the bank account.
Some of them will even take a second gubbermint job to scam a second pension. This practice is so pervasive that some states have had to pass laws to ban it.
Back in 2000, a former high ranker with 33 years service in the Cal. Highway Patrol (CHP), Ed Gomez, presented the retirement board with a doctor's letter attesting to total disability and orders to avoid more than ordinary stress in further occupational endeavors. With this in hand, this gentleman got a tax-free settlement of $39k, lifetime health coverage and a 50% tax free annual pension of $100k+.
Two years later, this same person was hired by the new TSA to become the Security Administrator at SF International Airport, frontline against terrorism! I don't know if he is still there but it sure looks like what you are describing!
