If you had to stop and think about it for a day, would you still get that giant dragon tattoo across your back? That’s the question being raised by health regulators in our nation’s capital, where Washington, DC officials are considering a mandatory 24-hour waiting period before getting a tattoo or body piercings. "The licensee or operator of a body art establishment shall ensure that no tattoo artist applies any tattoo to a customer until after twenty-four (24)hours have passed since the customer first requested the tattoo," reads the language of proposed language of new regulations from Washington DC’s Department of Health.

No problem, in my youth I stayed inebriated for longer than that a couple times.

This sounds like something mayor Bloomie would come up with.

How ‘bout a 24 hour waiting period before you can vote for a DemoRat?

What an asinine proposal. I can see regulations making sure the tat shop uses clean needles, etc. But a waiting period?

Contrary to whatever the spokes-tool for the D.C. Health Dept. is assuming, not everyone who gets inked is under the influence when they do so. I’d venture most aren’t, in fact. And if they are, well, double-dumbarse on them if they don’t like it the next day. Adults are responsible for their own actions, even after they’ve had a few.

Argh, I hate nanny staters!

We used to know that sailors often regretted the stupid tattoos they got while drunk. Now we allow stupid kids to have their necks and faces tattooed and when they find out they can’t find a job, they regret it. What a bunch of maroons we Americans have turned out to be.

The tattoo craze is loathesome and totally anti Judeo-Christian. You can’t walk down the street in NYC without seeing those filthy tattoos crawling up the necks of stupid kids. Repulsive! Of course, if creepy Bloomberg is for it, I’m against it. But where are the parents who influence these kids?

I did not realize this but there is no minimum age for a tattoo in the Commonwealth of VA. A minor can get one with parental consent.

So the Libs want people to wait 24 hours before they decide for sure they want a tattoo but they consider it infringing on their rights when Conservative Christians want them to wait 24 hours to decide whether or not they want to murder the child in their womb.

Good grief.

LOL, you can't be serious. I think God is ok with tatoos. Just my 2 cents, I don't speak for God. Do you?

When I see a tattoo, the first thing I think is “Here’s Your Sign.”

I’m all for it. For any irreversible procedure there should be a 24 hour waiting period.

I also despise tattoos. In particular, I do not want to see one on a waiter or waitress who is serving my food. Filthy looking. Even worse, though, are the piercings. Totally gross.
