It is time for the Tea Party to divorce the Republican Party and start its own political party.
Nature abhors a vacuum, and the Tea Party swept into the political vacuum left by the Republican Party in 2009. There was no voice for conservatives. The GOP had surrendered to its big government wing. And because of that, the GOP had been shellacked in 2006 and 2008.
The GOP would not stand up for conservative principles and the Tea Party was born.
In 2010, the Tea Party swept the Republicans into power in the House of Representatives.
What does the Tea Party have to show for it?
For the last two and a half years, the Tea Party has watched House Speaker John Boehner raise his freshly laundered white flag of surrender time and time again.
While the Republicans come back home to tell the voters how conservative they are, the truth is quite different.
The Republican leadership has not held the line on spending. They have capitulated repeatedly on the debt ceiling. They have surrendered on taxes. They have wanted to get along on Amnesty even though it is political suicide. They have given us meaningless, symbolic votes to repeal Obamacare, while making no real effort to do so. With barely disguised contempt for the base, they have ignored the calls to defund Obamacare.
Now they are giving the conservative base the middle finger by rushing to war in Syria.....

Ok, so somehow I got two replies started and posted the wrong one (what I get for trying to read/reply on FR while doing a bunch of other stuff.) Here’s what I ended to post, just my personal opinion:
Michael Farris is President of Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and Founder and Chancellor of Patrick Henry College. I have TONS of respect for him, he is a constitutional scholar, has argued cases in front of the Supreme Court and a leader with a lot of clout within the homeschooling community. I wanted to take his online course on Constititutional Law this semester, and get my college freshman daughter to take it, but we were both too busy, her with other classes and me with homeschooling my other teens, but the course looks great. Hope we can take it on another occasion.
Farris is really helping educate the next generation and develop leaders who understand what our constitution means and how we can restore it, while also directly involved in constitutional cases regarding religious liberty, etc. While I don’t recognize the other leaders directly, their vitae’s look excellent and I think if Michael Harris brought them on board he would have vetted them carefully. I will definitely support this group.

As of early 2007, the college has a 100% acceptance rate among graduates who have applied to law school.
I admire those who homeschool. Good on ya!
BTW, here is their position on how representation would be handled, which was a big subject of debate on one of the threads a couple of weeks ago. This is the only method which makes any sense to me.
I don’t know who has the authority to say this is the way it will be and no other but that needs to be defined before going it.

The “One man, one vote” concept imposed on the states is one of many outrages from scotus.

I don't recall anyone in the Tea Party rushing to nominate Mitt Romney, or to line up behind Karl Rove, whose allies still control the RNC.
Form a conservative political party separate from the current RINO Party? Yes. I’m ready! Let’s roll.
The same thing can be said about third-party Presidential runs. They never work. Eugene Debs. Theodore Roosevelt. Robert La Follette. Strom Thurmond. George Wallace. Ross Perot. Ralph Nader. When has one of them ever emerged victorious?
An EXCELLENT name. What we need is someone like Pain or Cruz to initiate it. Leadership is everything.

First thing: the new party, whatever it calls itself, should VOLUNTARILY commit to term limits: one term for the Senate, one term for the House. Term limits for state and local government should be agreed to also.
These gentlemen seem sincere, however, once in Washington, the temptation is overwhelming and the reward, too great. How many politicians will turn down the chance at becoming a millionaire for doing nothing but voting yes or no? They can set their families up for generations just by cutting a deal with the farmers, or the manufacturers, or the solar industry, or the oil and gas guys, or the unions, et al.
POWER AND MONEY GET THEM ALL, SOONER OR LATER. We need Cincinnatus and George Washington: Men who do their job for a specific period of time, then go back to the farm. We need citizens to do this, not more CAREER POLITICIANS.
A party that sends people to the Senate with only one term will get very little done there - remember, committee seats are based on length of time on office.
But at least you would have a real discussion of issues and representatives that will say, “No. No way in hell. And don’t ask me again.”
Incumbency is the source of corruption of the entire system.
