Touted as a way to quit smoking, the latest data raise concerns that electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, may actually be a gateway for teens into tobacco use.
~snip he said. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug. Many teens who start with e-cigarettes may be condemned to struggling with a lifelong addiction to nicotine and conventional cigarettes.
Most addictions to nicotine start at a young age,...suggest that a vast majority of students who use e-cigarettes also turn to conventional tobacco products as well.
~snip Whether e-cigarettes are actually safer than regular cigarettes isnt clear; a recent study found that e-cigarettes can cause increased resistance in the airways, making it harder to breathe, within minutes of inhalation of the vapors, while other studies have suggested the products can help smokers to quit.
The Food and Drug Administration is currently studying the data on electronic cigarettes and plans to issue a regulatory rule on the products soon. ~snip
The agencys rule will certainly take into consideration the question of how teens are using e-cigarettes, and will consider studies that investigate whether the products serve as a gateway to other tobacco use. About 90 percent of all smokers begin smoking as teenagers. We must keep our youth from experimenting or using any tobacco product, Dr. Tim McAfee, the director of the CDC Office on Smoking and Health said in a statement.
If, as the results suggest, e-cigarette use is tied to tobacco use among teens, then electronic cigarettes could be just as enabling as conventional cigarettes for nicotine addictions. These dramatic increases suggest that developing strategies to prevent marketing, sales, and use of e-cigarettes among youth is critical, said McAfee.

Point taken, I vape them everywhere!
Yes it is, because this type of derangement is why we have the cretin we have residing at 1600 Pennsylvania..
It's pharma or one of the body parts charities, not the tobacco industry.
Years ago I worked with a guy that had worked contract work for the tobacco industry and then got a job with the pharma industry trade association. He had to toe his bosses line, but his stories about how they lied were hilarious - if they weren't so dangerous.
But if not, it is frightening how close-minded true believers become.
This one is both close minded and a true believer, yet claims to be a conservative while promoting higher taxes and more government involvement in the live of people who disagree with s/h/it's view of how things should be.
Nanny State PING!
I find Drango to be an obnoxious busybody, but how can you infer from what he posted that he thinks homosexuality is a normal thing?
I did some research for you...
Got Milk?
The RR for lung cancer from ETS [secondhand smoke ed.] exposure among never smokers is approximately 1.3 [Hackshaw et al., 1997].
Steenland, Kyle, Carol Burnett, Nina Lalich, Elizabeth Ward, and Joseph Hurrell, Dying for Work: The Magnitude of US Mortality From Selected Causes of Death Associated With Occupation, AMERICAN JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL MEDICINE 43:461482 (2003), online at http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/awards/hamilton/pdfs/HumStuWin04.pdf, accessed on 04 SEP 2013.
Subjects reporting consumption of whole milk 3 or more times daily had a 2-fold increase in lung cancer risk compared to those who reported never drinking whole milk (RR = 2.14).

Secondhand smoke causes lung cancer in nonsmokers There is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke.

So what is the safe level of exposure to Milk?
Thanks for the ping!
get this poison away from them and give them pot instead..
Don’t get me started on any of this at this time of night!
Hi there STRANGER! Haven’t heard from you in AGES!!!
I just used the same "logic" s/h/it used for the claim that using tobacco products makes one an addict.
The same people who redefined the word addiction to include tobacco use and more addictive than even heroin are the same people who determined homosexuality was not a mental disorder.
I thought that you wanted people to quit smoking.
Normal people would be embarrassed.
I am hiding in Afghanistan. ;)
Drango is a very disturbed individual. Extremely mentally ill. Nicotine gum sold at WalMart for $59.76 could do him some good.
The campaign for tobacco free kids, the American Cancer Society, the American lung Association and the FDA for that matter are all heavily funded by contributions from big pharmaceutical companies.
The same pharmaceutical companies that make competing nicotine replacement products like Nicorette gum which just so happens to come in fruity and cherry flavors and mint that might appeal to kids like candy and gum. :-)
They stand to lose market share billions of dollars in sales if E cigarettes become more popular. This is their Waterloo.
You know they are desperate when they use children as human shields.
I meant that those in the ecig shops aren’t giving money to pharma or the gubmint which is a good thing in my opinion.
2084 isn’t happy unless thousands of kids are addicted every day.
No argument from me!
Gotcha! My apologies for the misunderstanding.
But no, people like you cannot stand that.
I don’t get it. What would not be a problem?
Do you think Kids won’t smoke if we had schools handing out packs f cigarettes?
