While stressing that Washingtons primary goal remained limited and proportional attacks, to degrade Syrias chemical weapons capabilities and deter their future use, the president hinted at a broader long-term mission that may ultimately bring about a change of regime.
It also fits into a broader strategy that can bring about over time the kind of strengthening of the opposition and the diplomatic, economic and political pressure required so that ultimately we have a transition that can bring peace and stability, not only to Syria but to the region, he told senior members of Congress at a White House meeting on Tuesday.

His or theirs?
That is Obamaspeak, let me translate, we are gonna fundamentally transform the Middle East into a Caliphate..
Oh, yeah, Robert McNamara, Vietnam.
No surprise really, since the First Fraud
can't even come up with .... a real birth certificate.
Gas Cylinders Mounted on Shells and Fired by FSA Terrorists against the Syrian Army
Gas Cylinders Mounted on Shells and Fired by @SenJohnMcCain Moderates in Syria
I thought it was about sending a moral message and red lines being re-established.
If you are talking regime change than it is an invasion.
via the Jerusalem Post:
But: If Obama were asked his opinion of his foreign policy he would respond with absolute conviction that his foreign policy is a total success everywhere. And by his own metrics, hed be right.
Obama is a man of ideas. And he has surrounded himself with men and women who share his ideas. For Obama and his advisers, what matters are not the facts, but the theoretical assumptions the ideas that determine their policies. If they like an idea, if they find it ideologically attractive, then they base their policies on it. Consequences and observable reality are no match for their ideas. To serve their ideas, reality can be deliberately distorted. Facts can be ignored, or denied. Obama has two ideas that inform his Middle East policy.
First, the Muslim Brotherhood is good. And so his policy is to support the Muslim Brotherhood, everywhere. Thats his idea, and as long as the US continues to support the Brotherhood, its foreign policy is successful. For Obama it doesnt matter whether the policy is harmful to US national security. It doesnt matter if the Brotherhood slaughters Christians and Shiites and persecutes women and girls. It doesnt matter if the Brotherhoods governing incompetence transforms Egypt and Tunisia, and Libya and etc., into hell on earth. As far as Obama is concerned, as long as he is true to his idea, his foreign policy is a success.
Obamas second idea is that the root cause of all the problems in the region is the absence of a Palestinian state on land Israel controls. And as a consequence, Israel is to blame for everything bad that happens because it is refusing to give in to all of the Palestinians demands.
And that is why Kerry keeps running back to Israel, to squeeze massive concessions from the Israelis, who get next to nothing in return.
This is so transparent you have to be willfully blind not to see it.
Obummer should never have drawn his "red line" concerning a conflict nobody wants the US to be involved in. Now that he has, there are no good alternatives. Either we say "never mind" and forfeit what little credibility Obozo has left, or we engage in a pointless attack that won't accomplish anything, even if regime change is the goal.
A Syria-born American who lived, studied and worked in the Indianapolis area was elected today as prime minister of the Syrian opposition. Ghassan Hitto, 50, was chosen to lead Syrias main exile groups. He earned degrees in mathematics and computer science from Purdue University in 1989 after attending classes at its IUPUI campus.
Hitto was also a volunteer who helped stage the annual conventions of the Plainfield-based Islamic Society of North America. He worked for the North American Islamic Trust, an organization affiliated with the Islamic Society, said Ahmed El-Hattab, an Islamic Society leader.
Simply put, he is Muslim Brotherhood.
Only to political junkies, like us. The general public knows nothing about it and would be shocked and disbelieving.
Thanks for those links, saved me the trouble of looking them up. Do you have a link to the Bodansky report, other than through the LaRouche web site?
Regime change is definitely needed here. The best way to accomplish that at the present time is through impeachment. Obozo must go.
Ever wonder why he doesn't push for regime change in Iran?
Iran's citizenry has a population that is very pro-Western....or maybe I should say HAD a population that was pro-Western...I think the Clown might have BLOWN that chance up when he ignored the slaughter of innocents in the streets of Tehran in 2009.
You remember that, right? He went to eat ice cream while women were being murdered.

In other words it’s okay to lie to the public about your intentions.
A few minutes ago, someone posted a link to DU. It’s amazing, they are just as upset with Obama as we are. One of the posters said that she voted for Obama twice and now she feels as though she voted for Bush. They aren’t just upset over the Syria military action, they are very upset over Obamacare, as well.
I don’t see how Obama’s poll numbers could be any any higher than the thirties by the week-end.
Regime change = free rein and reign for Al-Qaeda in Syria, courtesy of America.
I’ll have to go over and have a little read.
So the obamabots have begun experiencing the joy of Obamacare? Great news!
obama’s policies are despicable
Stupid is as stupid does. When no one properly vetted Obozo, and the media hid his faults, all so that they could cheer the voting of a “Black” man (Mulatto, actually), they did more damage to America, and the rest of the world than all previous administrations combined. The potential fallout of this, for the entire world, is hugh and series (huge and serious).
