I dont believe you; You had the whole damned thing all wrong. Hes not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays.
Jethro Tull
Sometimess you just have to laugh at the absurdity.
Id mentioned in a recent column a Squawkers prayer that Ariel Castro (who kidnapped and held three Ohio women captive for more than a decade) would be stabbed in prison. I wondered, in print, what kind of person would seek divine intervention to carry out a revenge fantasy on his behalf.
And that was that.
Until this arrived: Who the (expletive deleted) do you think you are to talk about somebody elses relationship with God? Its (expletive deleted kinda sounds like glass bowls) like you who are whats wrong with America today. Dont think God doesnt answer prayers against evil people in this world. Im sure plenty of liberal anti-gun, anti-God, (gay)-loving Socialists make that list, too. Sound like anyone you know?
OK.
After I digested the words of the email, I couldnt help but wonder what this persons own prayers might sound like. Perhaps:
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Dear Lord, please bless my family, even my cousin whose daughter claims to have a girlfriend and please straighten her out, Lord and George Bush and Sarah Palin and all the white people in America except liberals and Democrats and those that dont keep with their kind and please bless Americans guns and help us to shoot straight when weve got enemies in our sights, like all the illegals in our country and anybody whos not a member of our church and all the fruits prancing around out there the ones that dont grow on trees.
And, Lord, please kill everyone who doesnt look, think and act like me so our country can be great once again. And, Lord, could you please help Dale Junior win the Cup this year? Amen.
I thought about New York lawyer Frederic Richs haunting novel Christian Nation as I read over the love letter from the obviously ardent fan. In the book, published earlier this year, Rich takes a revisionists look at history in the wake of the 2008 presidential election, one in which John McCain claims a narrow victory over Barack Obama.
In the novel, McCain dies a few months into his first year in office and (horror of horrors) Palin becomes president. I wont spoil it for anyone who wants to read the book which is quite compelling, if not exactly a literary masterpiece, by the way but suffice it to say were soon living in a different America, one in which those who do not adhere to the new administrations fundamentalist Christian ideals (sorry, Catholics; too bad, Jews; run for cover, homosexuals) do not have the right to seek life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness.
Certainly Richs vision of Palins America is extreme. Americas freedoms are gradually usurped until, ultimately, the country finds itself engaged in a Holy War.
Perhaps the thing that struck me most as I read the novel is the relative ease in which most of Richs America a country founded on the principle of religious freedom gave up its rights and eagerly accepted the persecution of anyone who did not adhere to the ideals of its radical leaders.
I think I was most chilled, though, by the words spoken by the books primary character, a young New York lawyer named Greg, at the end of Chapter 1: So I suppose what happened here is that they said what they would do, and we did not listen. Then they did what they said they would do.

Fits Obama exactly and every dumb ass that voted for him.
So I suppose what happened here is that they said what they would do, and we did not listen. Then they did what they said they would do.
Applies to “Progressives”. Don’t you find that statement ironic?

They are truly scared to freaking death of Sarah...
...good to see she’s still in all their empty heads.
Progressives are the demons they most fear.
Palin unnerved the Left more than anything in several decades. They saw the thousands who came out to hear and cheer her speeches. They saw the massive throngs of people who stood in line for hours during nighttime freezing temperatures for her book-signings.
They saw what Palin tapped into. And it’s their most primal fear... a populist/conservative revolt from mid-america, aimed against their elite power bases, within their towers of government, the media, and the culture. A direct threat to to their entire, constantly steamrolling, leftist agenda. The GOP and its dottering old politicos have never been a threat to them. But they rightfully saw in Palin something that could indeed derail them. Thus the unhinged hellfire directed towards her.
They are truly scared to freaking death of Sarah...................................... How true, and so are many who comment here. Personally I would love to see her run against the Screeching Hag. The hag will not unite this country, she will only widen the gap, all because her real goal is to be the “first” female. Just think how envious her former classmates would be. She just doesn’t strike me as one who was liked in HS. Yes there are people who carry HS non popularity for the rest of their lives and wait for the moment “to show them, look at me now”. Bottom line, I’d roll the dice on Palin over anyone else. She would make a great president compared to what we have now and even what appears as what we are going to get.
Oh, you nailed it there.
Cruz has the same effect on them.
I wish Palin or Cruz or both would call us all to come out and protest. I really believe millions would get in the streets if she suggested it. Of course, the NSA could always come up with something to arrest her for.
OK, fine, I'm willing to listen. When did Palin say anything of the sort?
Crickets. That's what I thought.
Yeah, we can look at this nut and laugh, but many idiot Dems actually believe that claptrap. Before the 2008 election I mentioned to one of my lib sisters what was going to happen if a leftist like Obama was elected. And she said oh yeah, if Palin gets elected, everybody will be forced to go to church on Sundays and other religious things. I started laughing at her, but doubtless many people like her believe that stuff. They’re libs...they’ll believe anything they’re told.
To rewrite that last little bit: "So I suppose what happened here is that [obama] said what [he] would do, and we did not listen. Then [he] did what [he] said [he] would do."
"We are just five days away from fundamentally changing America." ~ bhobama, 2008
The answer to the prayer is "No!". Castro hanged himself yesterday. What a crying shame < /s>.
It amazes me that liberals have the idea that conservative Christians would “force” them to do anything. Christians don’t force people to have faith. All they want is to be left alone to live their lives according to their own faith. I know it’s all about projection, but it angers me because I lived in a country that had real freedom of religion and it was a great country. Nobody forced conversion on anyone and nobody made rules forbidding anyone to go against their own beliefs. Yet, people had a live and let live attitude in a largely moral society. Compared to today it seems like a dream world. I despise liberals.
Most likely they believe that because they do, in fact, force their beliefs on the rest of us.
Palin-Cruz could be a VERY Conservative team as Candidates, but big money and State-Run-Media will keep it from happening. Amnesty is ALL about big money, and keeping Conservatives from winning for the foreseeable future.
Is it just me, or does that not sound EXACTLY like what Obama has done with this country? I guess it's just another case of liberal 'projection'. They always blame conservatives for the things they themselves are doing, or want to do.
