VIENNA, September 3 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defence Minister Valery Gerasimov has postponed his scheduled working visit to Austria. “It was a forced decision,” Russian Ambassador to Austria, Sergei Nechayev, said on Tuesday.

“It is not meant against Austria,” he said at a ceremony of awarding Russian defence ministry’s medals to Austrian citizens. “The visit has not been cancelled, it was postponed and will take place without fail.”

The medals to Austrian citizens who did much to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers who died during WWII were to have been awarded by the Russian Chief of the General Staff.

According to earlier reports, the central command of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces was put on alert after Israel and the United States had staged missile tests in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Russians think things are getting serious enough for Senior Staff to cancel/"postpone" trips to the West.

Hmmm... I wonder if any US media will dare to report this, since it would make THE MESSIAH look bad??

Times like this make one wish one had dug that bomb shelter, and glad one has already lived to a ripe, old age.

Time may be getting short for us all, what with President Dildo in the White House steering us all to oblivion via Plutonium Plaza.

I’m not minimizing the gravity here, but I have a hard time believing that this brought us that close to WWIII.

We’re already so close it would be hard to calculate the small difference this launch made.

Things *are* getting serious enough when unidentified missiles (carrying what warheads?) are being launched without warning from ships in the sea.

The international protocol for times of peace requires a warning, at least to be sure that no civilian ship gets hit by debris. There was no warning this time around; the launch was unscheduled. When you detect a launch, the first thing to determine is where it is going, and then what could it be delivering. You want to have all the command staff at their positions at such time. Besides, Austria isn't going anywhere. (Let's hope so.)

I wonder if the media would report a nuke going off somewhere in America. Only those within sight of the mushroom cloud would know about it.

One missile can start a nuclear war. If Russia or China thinks a missile is headed for them they’re going to react. I have to wonder if this wasn’t done hoping to get them to react.

It was likely done to identify secondary and tertiary defense systems operating in support of Syria. These need to be identified before any strike to incorporate into planning.
