Put more quirkily: In 1968, if you wanted to throw a dinner party for all your twentysomething friends who had moved out of their parents' home, and you invited three girls who lived together, you would have to invite fourteen married couples to make the party proportionally representative of your generation's living arrangements (okay, not a priority for most dinner parties, parties, but still.) Roommate was a synonym for spouse, basically.

This WHOLE thing is consistent with the "take no responsibility for your actions; claim you are a 'VICTIM', and the Gubmint will take care of you".
THAT is where we are today, in all of this mess....
The Nuclear Family is nearly non-existent, traditional marriage is "old-folks' ways", and there will come a day when the tide turns.
I had a female roommate once.....once.
We are still friends but never again. Guys are so much easier to live with.

And the laws all favor women changing men into women.
With family court and support groups and universities teaching what they teach, warping minds, and society encouraging all sorts of self-destructive behavior as “awesome” and sound behavior as “oppressive, outdated”,
there is not much upside for men to be married.
Which is exactly what liberals want. It all aids in the destruction of the family. along with attacks on the church, the only societal pillar left is government, and the libs believe they can control that one forever.
I think in general, roommates of the same sex are easier to live with. less tension and less worry about mixed signals or crossing lines.
Women have been taught that sex with a single man is liberating, while sex with their husband is prostitution. The absurdity doesn't appear to phase them.
Men have responded by choosing "friends with benefits" over "marriage without benefits".

Actually, I believe there are more hetero women opting out of marriage than hetero men.
We are members of a new parish that's just over 2 years old. We recently had the first wedding, between two young people in the parish. I remarked to the priest that this was a milestone for the parish. He remarked that he'd "fixed up" a number of cases where, had the ceremonies been publicized, people would have said "I didn't know they weren't married."
Yes, by having sex with single men and relying on Uncle Sam to pay the bills, many hetero women are indeed opting out of marriage.
Being a married man provides zero benefits in family court, and in fact just guarantees that you will get all of the responsibility and none of the benefits, any time a woman opts for divorce.
Your contempt for women is...sad?...unfortunate? Certainly not a foundation for a healthy committed, hetero relationship.

I work with several guys in their 20's to 30's....the absolute crap they put up from their girlfriends, shack ups is amazing...

A healthy committed, hetero relationship is a two way street...
Having raised four sons, helping them though adulthood to find a soul-mate, I find that many women, especially young ones are really, really screwed up in the head: feminism, gender politics, immorality, no sexual mores, celebtard culture, probably abortions
If I was a young man today...I'd probably be single...because the I won't deal with the head cases most women are...
