lol! red-flag warning! certain to be open-ended war.

the other favorite: the rebel “Moderates”

From Cantor: “That is why it is imperative that the Administration continue to identify and support those moderate elements who are battling both Assad and Al Qaeda.”

“these moderate elements” -— That is the same lie McCain has been pushing for weeks

“I have a problem helping those people screaming that after a hit,” Kilmeade said. McCain responded: “Would you have a problem with an American or Christians saying ‘thank God? Thank God?’” He added, “That’s what they’re saying. Come on! Of course they’re Muslims, but they’re moderates and I guarantee you they are moderates.”

McCain provided no evidence to suggest that Syrian opposition groups are moderate, as opposed to the wide swath of evidence suggesting that the opposition is heavily infested with al Qaeda.

“He arrogantly asserted that nobody should need any more justification than we have already been fed....”

Well. it’s DAMN sure the Russians don’t agree with that, and his “If you don’t agree, you must be NUTZ!” attitude isn’t going to sit well with Putin, that is for sure.

REUTERS:

Several protestors continue to wave signs and protest. One woman stood and yelled “The American people do not want this.” She was escorted from the room while others continued to wave pink anti-war signs. Kerry - who said the first time he testified before Congress he was of the anti-war mindset said “We all can respect those who have a different point of view, and we do.”

Hagel had an awkward moment where he said “committing the country to w....using military force”.

He almost said the word “war” - good thing he stopped himself!

Those “moderate elements” switched back to supporting the government, when the foreign AQ fighters started murdering Christians, and burning down churches.

The brutality of the Muzzie foreign fighters is why the tide turned against the rebels, not chemical attacks.

“foreign AQ fighters”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The al Qaeda-linked Al Nusra Front is conducting war on the Assad regime with a band of about 6,000 fighters established by jihadists in January 2012. It wants Mr. Assad to be replaced by a Sunni Islamic state.
Al Nusra knows how to move men and arms inside Syria to the point where, analysts say, they have become the most deadly force among a hodgepodge of opposition groups.
[snip]
The Congressional Research Service reported in June: “Many analysts fear that Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQ-I) also has been active in the Syrian civil war, supporting and training Sunni extremist groups in Syria.”
Asked to assess Al Nusra in its second year, a U.S. official said: “The Nusra Front is clearly playing an important role in the opposition because the group’s roughly 6,000 fighters are disciplined, well-armed and capable. They’ve also partnered effectively with other rebel brigades. However, Nusra is still just one part of a complex, multipronged opposition that doesn’t have one dominant force.”
