Russian radar detected two ballistic "objects" that were fired towards the eastern Mediterranean from the central part of the sea on Tuesday, state-run news agency RIA quoted the Defence Ministry as saying.

I am trying to remember so maybe you can confirm but didn’t the IMF shut down the radar last time they hit Syrian sites? I am wondering if they were making sure they still have that capability.
That's exactly right. Those launches were done for a clear reason, and the Russians obliged by detecting and announcing them.
The SCUD CEP is not very good. They’re still pretty much glorified V-2s. You’re correct that it’s likely we would not engage targets in this fashion due to the heads up it provides. If it were to be carried out like that, most likely it would be a secondary strike against fixed, hardened targets. Obviously, Israel has some real concerns about inbound ballistic missiles, wants to be prepared, and wants others to know they are.
I will see if I can find anything.

10:58 GMT: Israel claimed a joint missile launch with the US in the Mediterranean Sea. The Israeli Defense Ministry spokesmen told journalists that they tested an anchor target missile used to check how well the anti-missile system known as “Arrow-2” functions. The launch took place at 06:15 GMT, the ministry spokesmen added.
Never fear, Cap'n Kerry will run them down with his swift boat...(Oh yeah, /s)
LOL!
In all seriousness, sure seems stupid to be doing secret tests that could accidentally start a regional war! Yet another reason to be against this whole thing.....the people running the show! Obama, Hagel and their assembled yes men? Heaven help us!
N.Y. Times: IDF Unit 8200 Cyberattack Disabled Syrian Anti-Aircraft Defense

The N.Y. Times published a report about the Stuxnet virus which takes an interesting and slightly contrarian view of the power and lethality of the virus. But the most interesting part of the article was a list of other previous cyberattacks that were initiated by governments. Among them, John Markoff notes that Israels attack on the alleged Syrian nuclear reactor involved disabling that nations radar/anti-aircraft defenses. According to the reporter, the IDFs Unit 8200 devised an ingenious method of shutting the radar off
Bibi is letting the world know that he is ready, even if Obama and his gang of merry men aren’t...
It’s The Voronezh Early Warning Radar in Azerbaijan.
It’s fairly new, being built to replace the EWR’s lost when Ukraine went independent.
Hmm ...

What was that Turkish F-4 Phantom II up to when the Syrians shot it down?
Ankara said the plane strayed into Syrian airspace, but quickly left and was over international waters when it was attacked, a simple case of carelessness on the part of the Turkish pilot that Syrian paranoia turned deadly.
But the Phantomeyewitnesses told Turkish television that there were two aircraft, but there is no official confirmation of that observationwas hardly on a Sunday outing. According to the Financial Times, Turkeys Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, told the newspaper the jet was on a test and training mission focused on Turkeys radar defense, rather than Syria.
Translation: the F-4 was lighting up a radar net. It is a commonif dangerous and illegaltactic that allows one to probe an opponents radar system. Most combat radar is kept in a passive mode to prevent a potential enemy from mapping out weaknesses or blind spots that can be useful in the advent of an attack. The probes also give you valuable information on how to neutralize anti-aircraft guns and ground to air missiles.

JERUSALEM Russia has upgraded a surveillance station it maintains in Syrian territory in order to provide Iran early warning of an Israeli attack, according to the Israeli security-related blog Debkafile.
The surveillance station, located south of Damascus, had been able to monitor air traffic in Israel as far south as Tel Aviv, as well as northern Jordan and western Iraq.
I’m starting to think that was ours that tested their radars, and Israel claimed it as their test.
That would explain the confusion shortly after it happened about who did it.
What is the latest on the plane that was hijacked out of Tripoli? Any updates on that?
“A senior Israeli defence official confirmed to the BBC that a missile had been fired on Tuesday to test its defence systems.
The defence ministry said Israel’s Arrow missile defence system had successfully detected and tracked a Sparrow medium-range guided missile fired as part of the test.
The BBC’s Richard Galpin in Jerusalem says tests like this are usually planned long in advance, but it is still a sign that the Israeli military is taking very seriously the possibility that US air strikes, if they do happen, could lead to retaliatory attacks on Israel - either by Syria itself or by its ally, the Shia militia Hezbollah in Lebanon”

Thanks maggie.
Strange reporting to say the least. We don’t know if the plane took off with hijackers, whether the hijackers were subdued, nothing. Whether there were passengers(sounds like maybe not), whether the plane has landed somewhere else? Very strange. My fear of course is some Islamist jihadi turning the plane into some explosive loaded kamikaze bomb.
Indeed. It seems we have little other recourse.
Thanks for the info you two. Very interesting times we live in.
Pre-planned my @ss.
RT:
14:39 GMT: Pentagon has confirmed the US Defense Department took part in Israeli missile test in the Mediterranean.
The missile test was carried out with technical support of the US Defense Department, the department spokesman George Little said as quoted by Itar-Tass.
According to Little, the test was pre-planned.
Every movement of every ship is one nations leader “speaking” to the other....and each is watching carefully what the other is “saying” by these maneuvers.
Watch what they DO not what they say.....it's communication via maneuvers and in Israels case a warning they mean business. The "Hawks" want war....you can hear it in their every breath..and eager to move forward on it.... Kerry and McCain have been begging for this for sometime.....they are worse than an embarrassment...they are outright warmongers!
