Why would your Glock be ready to go during such an event?

During the Little Buckaroos Reading Round-up event, Officer Robert Rench was helping a boy try on pieces of SWAT team gear, when another young boy approached unnoticed. The boy, who witnesses told police was about 6 years old, reached his finger toward the gun and pulled the trigger, Piombo said.
Besides Rench, no one was injured. But a woman left with the child who fired the gun, and so far police have been unable to identify him.
The Glock handguns that SWAT members carry arent equipped with a safety, Piombo said.
There is nothing we could have done differently, he said. It was just an accident. It boggles the mind why a child would do that.

Firearm retention and defending yourself from attempted grabs are police 101. In fact I have to go through the class once a year as part of my recertification. sorry, no excuse.

good for you, did you read post#25? i never said anything about Glocks or Glock owners... you asked a question "how many guns won't go off when the trigger is pulled" and i answered it, i guess you didn't like the answer, i don't know what to tell you

WTF kind of modern, police approved holster has an exposed triggerguard? I wouldn't be suprised if it came out that the officer was wearing a non approved holster.

At least in my agency that's considered a
higher standard, not a lower one. One of our SWAT guys had an A/D while on duty. He ain't SWAT no more. In fact he drove a desk for a while after that. that's the way it should be.

If we follow the “logic” of liberals, this means that it is now time to enact common-sense gun control on police guns.

You folks are two of my favorites. Let’s not eat each other up. You both are obviously well informed weapons owners.
In the immortal words of some guy that got his ass kicked by the LAPD for being high on drugs and then somehow falling into his backyard pool and drowning, “can’t we all just get along?”
I know Rodney King.
