SOMERS, N.Y. -- An 82-year-old man died following a three car accident on Route 118 in the town of Somers Tuesday, police said.

Dimitrios Caratzas succumbed to injuries sustained in the fatal accident that occurred at around 2 p.m. Tuesday on Route 118. Patterson resident Tomas Salguera-Ramirez, who was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck, was headed southbound on Route 118 when he swerved and clipped a 2012 Hyundai Sonata and struck a Hyundai Santa Fe in the northbound lane head-on, state police in Somers reported.

Salguera-Ramirez, Santa Fe driver Elaine Mazzeo, of Somers, and Caratzas were transported to Putnam Hospital Center where Caratzas succumbed to his injuries, police said. Mazzeo was hospitalized for chest-related injuries and Salguero-Ramirez was released, police said.

Salguero-Ramirez also received a traffic ticket for unlicensed operation, following too closely and failure to keep right. New York State Police are continuing an investigation into the accident.

As it turns out, the driver who caused this is an illegal alien who was driving his boss's truck.

Anyone who thinks that the “11 million” number being quoted as how many illegals there are in this country is accurate is NUTS. I’m a New Yorker and I’d bet my check there are at least 2 million illegals in NYC itself and another million in the greater NYC are. Nationwide, my guess is there are 25 million illegal aliens in the United States.

The boss who hired the illegal and let him drive his truck is probably liable for losses but how much quantifiable liability will there be? Loss of income? The victim was 82 (and maybe illegal) - no lost income, and he died pretty quickly so not much pain and suffering - so what lawyer would take the case.

Where’d it say they were illegals?

But the liberals say all we have to do is make them legal with amnesty and “give” them licenses and our roads will be safer. Stupid liberals.

The village of Mt Kisco, in central Westchester Country, ( and right next to Chappaqua, may have a population that is MORE than 50% illegal.

I used to work for the NYSP in that area. The Somers, North Salem and Pound Ridge area is home to the uber rich liberal media types that work in NYC. Think Kennedys, Cuomos, Povich, Olbermann types. The illegals that work there are primarily laborers or maids that work for them.

If they were all sent home where would the libs get gardeners, nannies and cleaning women who work for less than minimum wage?

Total medical bills as well as property damage still don’t leave much for the lawyers. Or even for the employer’s insurance company to contest (assuming they even acknowledge liability for an illegal driver), or probably to bankrupt the employer.

All those important people with their fancy houses need lots of yard work done, and don’t want to actually PAY for it.

By Obama-McCain standards, this means he should be rewarded with immediate citizenship.
