Neighbors are reporting that one of the two 11-year-old girls wounded in a triple shooting early Monday inside a home on the 1300 block of General Ogden Street, has died. New Orleans police later confirmed the girl's death and said she had been shot in the head and brought to a nearby hospital early Monday in critical condition.
The Orleans Parish Corner's Office on late Monday morning identified the girl as Arabian Gayles. Several neighbors earlier in the day simply had said the girl was named "Raven."
The other girl, who neighbors said was Arabian Gayles' cousin, was struck in the arm and a 38-year-old man was hit in his shoulder as he walked past the double shotgun where Arabian, her mother, her siblings and other relatives lived, according to neighbors. The injuries of the other girl and the man were not considered life threatening, according to the NOPD.
Consuella Briggs, 55, said that her son, Tommy Briggs, was the man struck in the shoulder by a bullet as he walked down the street.
Nearby, Alicia Ellis, 23, said she'd heard Arabian and friends "playing right out here, for the longest," pointing to a thin strip of grass alongside her home, a few houses away from the scene of the shooting.

What were they doing outside playing at 12:30 a.m.?

All the victims were in a house when someone started shooting in to the house.

The older cousin was wounded while walking in front of the house. I would SPECULATE that they were trying to shoot him, and some of the bullets went through the wall of the house.
You are right more often than people like to think. In this case it seems to be the cousin, walking outside, who was the target. Sprayed bullets penetrated the house. It MAY be that someone else in the house was the target and the perps figured opening fire would send a message, if not kill, their target. I highly doubt thugs shot up the house because they didn’t like the color or house number.
The facts usually bear out a criminal connection in such cases. Lets see what the news will be re. the records of those related to these kids. The sad fact is that the children of criminals WILL suffer for their parents/relatives. The parents/relatives know this.
The only solution, it seems, would be for those who live a life of crime( or who are related to, or friends with them) not have children. Highly unlikely. So it will continue- and it is normal here in the black culture of New Orleans.

At the risk of being pedantic, the “shotgun” referred to is a southern term for a type of house in which the rooms open into one another without a hall, designed for ventilation in our hot summers.
Modified ones here-also called shotgun houses-have a straight breezeway/hall/corridor with rooms opening off it and with doors at either end, also for ventilation. It is a very energy efficient design-the first floor of my house is that type of modified shotgun-they have always been common in rural areas where there is actually a breeze unimpeded by lots of buildings...
Whether it is smart to live in such a house in a shooting gallery neighborhood would depend on whether the doors faced the street or not, I suppose...
zero is in real deep shit and I'm convinced he, holder and others have a cache of useful idiots to do whatever they're asked.
I believe the useful idiots are called out at times when attention is to be drawn away FROM something ... or TO something.
