BBC News uses 'Iraq photo to illustrate Syrian massacre'
The Telegraph ^ | September 2, 2013 | Hannah Furness

Posted on 09/02/2013 8:00:29 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

Photographer Marco di Lauro said he nearly “fell off his chair” when he saw the image being used, and said he was “astonished” at the failure of the corporation to check their sources.

The picture, which was actually taken on March 27, 2003, shows a young Iraqi child jumping over dozens of white body bags containing skeletons found in a desert south of Baghdad.

It was posted on the BBC news website today under the heading “Syria massacre in Houla condemned as outrage grows”.

I had no idea Obama’s Press Corpse had a London Bureau. Shame on me.

Or the purported bombing by Israel years ago which showed photoshopped smoke that was identical in all bombings.

The old media still doesn’t understand the internet. 20, perhaps even 10 years ago, they would have been able to get away with that.

They didn’t learn anything from ‘Fake but Accurate’ Dan Rather and his daughter.

Just to be clear, is this the same massacre that caused so much outrage that Parliament voted against retaliation?

Deception followed by shoddy journalism.

I'm thinking we can expect a lot of "mistakes" like this in coming days.

Photographer Marco di Lauro said he nearly “fell off his chair” when he saw an image actually taken on March 27, 2003......the original shows a young Iraqi child jumping over dozens of white body bags containing skeletons found in a desert south of Baghdad. But the image was recycled--- now posted on the BBC news website today under the heading “Syria massacre in Houla condemned as outrage grows”.

This revelation comes as a Euro-newspaper reports Obama's own military do not believe him.

NOTE: THIS IS AN EDITED TRANSLATION AND MAY NOT BE FULLY ACCURATE Even more embarrassing for Obama, retired Lieutenant General Gregory S. Newbold posted: "The politicians are naive about the obligations that exist in foreign policy. Many are shockingly clueless about what can achieve a military operation. Newbold lead cadres in the Iraq war. He said that many of his colleagues share his active serious concerns.

An officer who commented anonymously, said: "I can not believe that the president ever takes this step into consideration. In the past 10 years we have been fighting against insurgents. Syria has advanced weapons systems. We would be in a classic war. "

Already in the past week Gen. Martin Dempsey, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pointed to the heedlessness pointed of Obama administration. He told ABC : "The simple use of weapons, without a precise strategy, such as the use contemplated, probably never leads to the conclusion that we imagine."

General James Mattis said: "If the Americans actually perform such an operation, then that is a brutal, very, very serious war. "

Another active officer said: "What political end do we want to achieve? I do not know what it is.

=================================================

SUMMING UP Obama's got no NATO support, no US support, no Arab League support (for military action), no big powers support, and little or no support from the non-worshipful-citizen types.

“dozens of body bags”
Yesterday it was “hundreds”. Was this a massacre or a ‘million man march’?

Remember the Green Man/doctor who just happened to be in so many pictures in Iraq? There was a thread here during that time of photo journalists doing posed pictures. Anyone still have that link?

“SUMMING UP Obama’s got no NATO support, no US support, no Arab League support (for military action), no big powers support, and little or no support from the non-worshipful-citizen types. “
~~~~~~~~~
Mark Steyn:
The administration’s ingenious plan is to lose this war in far less time than we usually take. In the unimprovable formulation of an unnamed official speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the White House is carefully calibrating a military action “just muscular enough not to get mocked....”
So what do we want in Syria? Obama can’t say, other than for him to look muscular without being mocked, like a camp bodybuilder admiring himself in the gym mirror....
Meanwhile, the hyperpower is going to war because Obama wandered off prompter and accidentally made a threat.
In Syria, U.S. goal ‘not to get mocked’
