Mary Cheney, the younger daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney who married her long-time partner Heather Poe last year, chastised her older sister, a Republican who is running for the Senate, for her opposition to same-sex marriage in a posting on Facebook.
Liz Cheney, who is seeking a Senate seat in Wyoming, said on Friday that she was "not pro-gay marriage."
"For the record, I love my sister, but she is dead wrong on the issue of marriage," Mary Cheney wrote on Facebook, according to the New York Times.
"Freedom means freedom for everyone," she wrote, repeating a phrase once used by her father when he was asked about gay marriage. "That means all families - regardless of how they look or how they are made - all families are entitled to the same rights, privileges and protections as every other."
Both Mary Cheney and Liz Cheney could not be reached on Sunday for comment.
Liz Cheney on Friday clarified her position on same-sex marriage in response to what she said was a "dishonest push poll" in which callers were asked whether they were aware that she supports abortion and aggressively promotes gay marriage.
"I am strongly pro-life and I am not pro-gay marriage," Liz Cheney said in her statement on Friday. "I believe the issue of marriage must be decided by the states, and by the people in the states, not by judges and not even by legislators, but by the people themselves."
Mary Cheney responded by saying that the issue was "not something to be decided by a show of hands."
Dick Cheney, who served as vice president under President George W. Bush, has long indicated he was supportive of gay marriage

Am I supposed to believe this...like Liz is from Wyoming?
I wonder what plans Karl rove and George Soros have for Liz Cheney
We don't know how she feels about gay unions, but we know that she supports homosexual marriage.
You might also ask yourself why she moved to a new state just to knock off a pro-life, anti-gay marriage republican senator rather than run from her own state against a democrat.
Liz says that NOW...I am suspicious of the timing.
I also am concerned about her trying to poach a reliable conservative senator....why not try to defeat a demonrat senator....
I believe that is what is happening. I am cynical. Look, she is trying to unseat a good conservative senator.
Why?
If she were running against a Democrat or a RINO, I would send her money...but this Wyoming thing is ridiculous.
Ginsburg has actually made comments that seem to lament how the Sup Court hijacked the abortion issue with its Roe decision, and how it prevented a proper democratic resolution to the issue.
But of course that hasn’t stopped her for voting for abortion rights every time she’s had the chance, and from continuing to keep it out of the democratic process. And it won’t stop her from doing the exact same thing with marriage.
She’s a disgrace. Her ilk are exactly what anti-federalist Brutus warned us about, and that Thomas Jefferson feared would arise under a renegade Supreme Court.
You’re not cynical.
You’re just correct, that’s all.
It is clear that you are one of those rino sympathizers who needs your hand held as you are led through things that have been exposed here thousands of times over many years and two presidential cycles.
Romney, who gave the nation homosexual marriage, never changed on homosexualizing the military and his support for homosexualizing the Boy Scout leadership, he also campaigned as opposing the GOP’s pro-life party platform and for “health” of the mother and was running pro-choice ads in at least two states.
Here is a starting point for you to start catching up on Liz.

Both of those positions are only from days, to weeks old, they did not exist until weeks ago.
They are both brand spanking new and shiny.
Are you suggesting that she is “severely” Conservative?
From the horse’s mouth, here’s a Youtube video with Liz Cheney’s pre-candidate beliefs.

Liz Cheney also supported the repeal of don’t ask, don’t tell.

(Yes, I know it’s a lib source.)
I found this next one, coincidence of coincidences, hilarious.
The money quote from that article:
When he speaks to that audience he tries to sound like he’s, you know, some sort of a fighter and advocate for equality, but when he’s trying to appeal to people who may not have that as their primary issue, he has got another position, Cheney said.
LOL, Liz!
I am also anti-establishment GOP and haven't given any money to the RNC for decades but prefer to give it instead to the candidates and/or the PACs supporting conservatives.
As you seem frustrated that I am reluctant to accept your word on what she is for or against, I assume that you take that hesitancy as a personal insult.
That reluctance is in no way intended as a personal insult.
It she were rational - fair - which if on the ‘Left’ and where most of these folks are - she would allow that her sister is entitled to her own opinion. But no. . .
I know she comes from a family that supports homosexual unions and other pro-establishment agenda.
No I’m frustrated that you tried to use your 2012 vote for Romney as justification for Liz Cheney preferring and working for Romney in 2008, that and the fact that I have to do all this basic politics 101 to bring you up to date.
I notice that in your avoidance of the facts on Liz Cheney that you aren’t even responding to things like the link in post 27, or the further information in post 18, or post 22.
Sorry, but you sure come off as a rino lover when you do that.
Yeah, cause - whatever...
Why bother posting that? I don't think that was Waryone's point in post 30.
If you like the link to the 2009 video in post 30, then why didn't you like it when I linked the same video and other information in post 27???
LOL.
Sorry but my link failed to work, so I didn’t get it.
You are welcome! Though I see that ansel12 beat me to it.
You can see for yourself that Liz Cheney is a duplicitous liar, like Romney and Rubio, liberals and every single person associated with the GOPe. Hopefully she and the other establishment/elites all choke on their hypocrisy.
Prior to this, she had impressed me as she has stood up for some conservative principles, just not a genuine conservative, as I now find out.
