Entergy inc to close the nuclear plant providing 70% of the state’s energy, it does not appear the Vermont state government has a say in this so I don’t know what’s up with the headline.

I live in Vermont and I can tell you that the VT. State government has been in a legal fight with Entergy for the past four years. Entergy got the okay to keep running the plant for the next twenty years, despite its being almost forty years old. No one saw Entergy giving up and decommissioning the plant. The hippies were literally dancing in the streets here.

650 people are going to be out of work, power bills are going to skyrocket, property taxes are going to go through the roof, but so long as the fish aren’t glowing we’re supposed to be happy. “Sigh”
