In other words, it's "settled science" -- no room for argument here, the wise ones have weighed in. We should not question their infallibility.

I say BS! There is no way the original intent was to let partial foreigners be eligible. Common sense would indicate that NBC means born in the native country to citizens (plural) of that country.

FWIW, Cruz is a great conservative, and Canada is a wonderful country (as I can attest to, being a NBC of Canada).

No, its not “settled science”; its settled law.

Don’t like it? File a law suit. Oh. Thats right. DOZENS of law suits have already been filed. On the State and Federal level. Years and years of law suits.

And how many were won?

I have my reasons why so many FReepers oppose Cruz based on this silly NBC argument (RINO agitators) but I hope not. I hope most of them are just ignorant.

Argue it all you wish. But if he runs, this site will support him to the hilt. Those who get nasty about it and or attack us or our good patriotic conservative friends like Mark Levin or our very best grassroots conservative candidates may find they no longer have accounts here.

He isn’t a partial foreigner.

You (we) just have to laugh sometimes.

Legally or commonsensically.

Being born over a line because of temporary circumstances that put the fully American birth mother over that line does NOT make a partial foreigner.

Whatever Canada deems him to be affects only Canada. It has no legal effect whatever on the fact that he has a birth certificate designating him as an American citizen at his birth.

That he grew up from age 4 in Houston, TX and calls Houston, TX his home from then until this day.

Has argued 9 cases before the Supreme Court and has done massive behind-the-scenes legal work in America and clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and argued Texas’s case before the Court, and won, when GWBUSH listed to Condi Rice and tried to say Texas couldn’t execute a Mexican murderer in Texas because Mexico objected under its own, and international, law.

And had been duly elected Senator from the great state of Texas.

Nope, Canadian legalities are not germane to the facts and law here, never making Ted a “partial foreigner” - to quote you.

You are correct because of the simple "grandfathered" sentence that appears in [Article II; Section I]:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Thus....according to the framers...... there indeed was a difference between NBC and a "plain" ole' citizen....otherwise they would not have differentiated the two.

Natural born = two citizen parents.... born where ever; Native born = born within the territorial limits of the country to non-citizen parents or born abroad to one citizen parent; Naturalized = Citizenship by statute. Three types.....always has been!

FWIW..............I think Ted Cruz would be a magnificent President. He's a magnificent Senator....already! But.....he is not a Natural Born Citizen. So what? Neither is the clown who sits there now!

I believe a precedent has been set.

Interesting.

In Canada NBC only requires a single citizen parent and doesn't require birth on Canadian soil.

You proudly attest to being an NBC of Canada while claim the lack of "common sense" here in the US when we use the same definition.

""""There is no way the original intent was to let partial foreigners be eligible.""""

I agree. However, under certain circumstances, I could find the logic to support Cruz for President. I could not support him by making believe that he is a Natural Born Citizen though.

Question... Are citizens, born on our soil of 2 American citizen parents and are clearly eligible but who are at the same time the product of the left wing socialist education system, the natural born citizens our founders had in mind when they authored the eligibility requirement in the Constitution?

I don't think so....

In a time of war, when it is a matter of survival, it is sometimes necessary to suspend certain principles, liberties and rules.

I think we are at this kind of turning point. So, in order to save the union, if it came down to choosing a non eligible person like Cruz or a far left but eligible Candidate like Hillary, I would not stay home. I would hold my nose and vote for Cruz. It's war.

BUT until then, I can not be silent.

Hopefully, Cruz will take the high road, declare himself to be ineligible, vigorously support and campaign for an eligible conservative like Palin and because of his honesty, be an even stronger force for reviving our nation..... God Save Us
