Rand Paul on Syria: I can’t see sending my son to fight on the same side as al Qaeda

Paul also explained that he had difficulty seeing any American interests in the Syrian conflict.

“I can’t see fighting to impose Sharia law in Syria,” Paul said. “I can’t see sending my son to fight with Islamic rebels against Christians. I also can’t see my son going to fight on the same side as al Qaeda.”

Under Sharia law, Paul noted, Christians would be persecuted for blasphemy, citing a woman in Pakistan who was jailed for blasphemy after she drank from a cup shared by Muslim workers.

“That is not something I want to send our boys and girls to die for,” Paul added.

I respect your opinion, that was never an issue. But your assertion that somehow our soldiers must bow to the whim of homosexual opinion isn’t based in fact in my own experience and I notice you do not defend that statement in your reply.

I've never felt obligated to address every point someone makes, but since you persist...

Let him openly affirm that his faith (presuming it is) condemns homosexual behavior, while he's in uniform or in the presence of his fellows, and let me know how it goes.

If we've not been attacked, how is anyone protecting my freedom by going to Syria? That's a rhetorical question, btw.

Let these muslims and Allah sort it out...it's their fight and none of our own. And, yes, men, women and children will suffer, but as muslims, it is their fate as that of people who follow the dictates of a “religion” as it's called, and not a political ideology, which it really is, that tells them death to infidels and other muslims who may be of another muslim faction, and not of their own. They do cover all the bases, don't they.

These people are the ENEMIES OF THE UNITED STATES.

Oh, I agree with every thing you've said. These young men willing to risk their lives, for what? It is utterly heartbreaking! And many of them are Christians. They don't understand that they are fighting on the side of a group who will torture and murder Christians when they get into power.

(My father served in WW2 also, and I've never questioned US motives going into war. All that has changed..)

I have several friends (in three different families) who have young sons either enlisted or planning to enlist in the military.

In each case I have personally known these boys since they were babies. It’s sickening to think of them doing this. They are willingly submitting to an unworthy, America-hating commander-in-chief.

Moreover the rules of engagement these days are not favorable to survival. Nor will these young men be encouraged to profess their faith. They will however be encouraged if not obligated to profess approval of homosexual behavior.

They just don’t see that this is no longer their fathers’ America, nor his armed forces.

They don’t see that there’s no good reason to risk one’s life for any political faction in Syria or Afghanistan or any other foreign country, especially with Obama calling the shots.

I persist because you brought it up. It so happens he's quietly assisting a member of his platoon to receive Christ. Homosexuality hasn't entered into the conversation and it's not going to.

He's protecting your freedom to do quite a bit, actually, whether or not he's in Syria. But you know that.

The only historical event that even comes close is the Spanish Civil War, but in that case US citizens took up arms to fight with the Communists and it was never sanctioned by the government I understand? Then there was the Democrats who funded the Sandinistas, but in that case, no US citizens were involved.

Besides, how do we know that Assad gassed these people? There is evidence that it was the rebels --- that is, either a rogue Baathist faction, or a false-flag jihad team ----who gassed these people.

There is no threat to our country from Syria. Instead, the threat is that our ill designed policy will put radical Muslims in power in Damascus.

People funded and armed by the Obama administration are killing Christians, desecrating Christian Churches, have kidnapped the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan and Syriac Orthodox Bishop of Aleppo and tried to assassinate the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch.

I guess you haven’t heard that Obama recently issued an executive order that requires SS protection for any president holding office after 9/11/2001 (IIRC) until some later date (after his 2nd term).....he had to include Bush, but the order was specifically meant to protect his worthless ass in perpetuity.
