Nope, it’s a Video game series that they are in discussion to make into a TV series. Some of the ideas in it do overlap though.
Think of it sorta like the movie, “The Day after” except 200 years later and what transpired. The more realistic aspects explore how survivors handled/ed the aftermath of a nuclear war. The roving tribes of ferals, the scavenging, the rape gangs, the attempts at restructuring a civilization in/from the remaining ruins, the search for old technology to elevate them from that existence and recapturing lost knowledge.
It is a huge and well thought out ‘world’ they created for the story..
Yup. Walk into any high school/college and pick all the people that ever camped in a tent. from that group, pick all the ones that ever camped without a tent.
From the maybe two remaining, ask if either knows how to build a fire without matches, a lighter or anything but what they find out in nature.
Most are doomed.
Can’t fish, couldn’t tell you where to find a worm/other bait. Can’t tell you where to seek shelter. Are clueless as to how to navigate as Travis said earlier or in another thread.
Just their lib worldview would make them hesitate to kill dinner assuming they had the means to do it.
Now I’m not saying I am some survivalist guru. I’m not. But I do grasp the basics. Young people don’t even know there are basics to grasp.
Ping
Exactly.
I used to shout at the TV until I realized that the only person I ticked off was my wife.
People post here now instead of shouting at the TV, and it doesn't disturb the wife.
You form up the first Regiment and tell me where you are Bivouacked, and I will show up, until you do you are just shouting at the TV, like the rest of us.
We have traitors in both parties and I only get to vote for half a dozen or so, none of which are Republicans, and judging from Boehner, Cantor and Ryan what difference does it make.(Hillery pic has been banned)
Here ya go:

One thing you didn’t even hint at is that there’s evidence the sun is undergoing one of its periodic weakenings of its magnetic field, which is always accompanied by a noticable decrease in temperature on this planet, which in turn leads to decreased agricultural yields.
Take a populace profoundly unable to deal with adversity, and throw them into the maw of unusual adversity ...
Just shut down the grid/internet matrix, and we die. Electricity and data are our oxygen. With or without cooling or warming.
We all go without power for short stints well, but all of it is based on an assumption that power comes back on and fuel is delivered in a week or two. If that fails to happen, we’re just as screwed as anybody, once the fuel for our generators runs out etc. Eventually even the rechargeable batteries in the solar charger crap out. And you many never see another one. Just saying, it can’t be ruled out.
Going back to 100 years ago is not possible, because 1913 tech and distribution was highly evolved, but totally different today. Farmers didn’t farm with a wooden hoe, they had good stuff which was horse drawn but efficient, and it was mostly cast iron etc. All of that is gone. We can’t “pick up” at 1913 technology. It disappeared. It would take a long time to get back to normal, whatever that was.

SAN DIEGO -- Move over vampires, goblins and haunted houses, this kind of Halloween terror aims to shake up even the toughest warriors: An untold number of so-called zombies are coming to a counterterrorism summit attended by hundreds of Marines, Navy special ops, soldiers, police, firefighters and others to prepare them for their worst nightmares.
"This is a very real exercise, this is not some type of big costume party," said Brad Barker, president of Halo Corp, a security firm hosting the Oct. 31 training demonstration during the summit at a 44-acre Paradise Point Resort island on a San Diego bay. "Everything that will be simulated at this event has already happened, it just hasn't happened all at once on the same night. But the training is very real, it just happens to be the bad guys we're having a little fun with."
Hundreds of military, law enforcement and medical personnel will observe the Hollywood-style production of a zombie attack as part of their emergency response training...
No documentation? I’m sorry sir that you are blind to the world around you. Please enjoy your cave!
Gotta scrape up some more bottle caps...
I thought of making a photo meme with ten reasons why a Frisbee is more useful than an Ipad, after the power goes out. You can collect berries on a Frisbee, etc.
Under a week, maybe the first night when the realization pervades the cities.
It’s out, it’s staying out at least all night, let’s rob everything!
Waving signs and banners is only the beginning.
Of course that sort of thing isn't going to budge the traitors in Washington -- but, it definitely gets their attention, as evidenced by the harsh and illegal treatment the Tea Party orgs got from the IRS these last few years.
What the last few years have proven to us, is that we haven't applied enough pressure. We've got to up the foot pounds, like was done in the sixties.
People are going to have to be willing to get out and do a bit more than just wave signs. They're going to have to chain themselves to the courthouse steps, and defy authority in countless other acts of civil disobedience, if we're to truly hammer the pressure home.
Only then will they slow to a halt. Given sufficient pressure, they'll even back up. But it's got to start somewhere, and the Overpasses groups are about ACTION, not bitching and moaning in places where it'll do little good.
What’s a MRAP?
The military just pretty much did a stand down. Not sure how it happened, but I was thinking it would be another Tiennimum Square type event. Color me surprised.
Well yes, the cities got their problems. But us countryfolk from the midwest deal with electrical outages all the time, and sometimes it is as long as a week.
Most of the people here in our small town do just fine. As long as I am in my house here in the country. I don’t need most of the electricity that we have to survive.
Electricity to me is not yet a necessity, though I would not like to do with out it for longer than a week. Still we have our plans for survival. We won’t have as many people as the cities have without a clue either.
The worst thing would be to do without the computer and FR. Since I have switched to canning and dehydration to preserve stuff from my garden, and have been stocking staples as a hedge against inflation, I expect that even refrigeration won’t be a big deal.
In fact I remember way back to when no one even had a refrigerator in there house. If they had anything, it was an icebox with a block of ice. Lots of people didn’t have that even.
If you have a metal container with a tight lid. You can cool some stuff by putting it into the container, and then dip burlap sacks in water and put them all around the metal container under a shade tree or even in your bathtub or shower.
The water evaporating off will keep it cool. I have done this with milk many times in emergencies. Grandpa use to do this with warm milk straight from the cow. Just another little trick from growing up poor.LOL
