Reference:John Fund-Former Hillary Press Secretary Refuses to Agree Alger Hiss Was a Communist
Karen Finneys refusal to acknowledge that Alger Hiss was a Communist spy let alone a Soviet agent with a direct hand in crafting American policy during World War II and the crucial early Cold War years should, alas, come as no surprise. The Cold War years are full of unpleasant memories for the Left, whose intellectuals, ignoring the horrors of the Russian Revolution, Stalins massacres, and much more, touted Communism as the wave of the future, and whose policies caved to Communisms aggressive expansion across the globe.
More than half a century on, when theyve been shown to be on the wrong side of history, to use a favorite liberal notion, Joe McCarthy is one of the few pleasant memories of the period for the Left: an alcoholic Republican senator who launched a shameless inquisition to expose a conspiracy theory hundreds of Communist operatives secretly working against the United States.
Of course, there is the unpleasant fact that McCarthy was, by and large, right. That makes Hiss a particular problem: Acknowledge hes a spy and you might have to admit that McCarthy and, even worse, then-congressman Richard Nixon were onto something.
But there is more at stake than holding onto an effective rhetorical bludgeon. One cannot or perhaps should not mention Alger Hiss without acknowledging the man who, at great personal risk, unmasked him: Whittaker Chambers (who would eventually write for this publication at the behest of Bill Buckley). Chambers chronicled his impossible return from the Communist underground in his autobiography, Witness, surely one of the great books of the 20th century.
In it he explains what we might call the Finney Phenomenon:
Thus men who sincerely abhorred the word Communism, in the pursuit of common ends found that they were unable to distinguish Communists from themselves, except that it was just the Communists who were likely to be most forthright and most dedicated in the common cause. . . . Any charge of Communism enraged them precisely because they could not grasp the differences between themselves and those against whom it was made.
This is not to give credence to any Obama the Commie bumper stickers, but Chamberss point is damning: Communism, socialism, and their friendlier-faced relation, modern liberalism (progressivism), are close kin. They spring from the same philosophical root, and they each reach toward the same end. We see their commensurability today in many liberals cultish devotion to the Castro brothers, Hugo Chavez, and Che Guevara.
Karen Finney might have a tough time labeling Alger Hiss a Communist because, in fact, he looks rather disconcertingly like a modern-day liberal.
There are no COMMIES or TERRORISTS who THE DEMOCRATS don’t have their back.
Tuttle links to John Fund who links to Politico who links to Hugh Hewitt.
That covers it and properly sources it, wouldn't you agree?
The regime are the spies, the admin is the Muslim brotherhood. They don’t even try to hide it.

In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Re: Former Hillary Press Secretary Refuses to Agree Alger Hiss Was a Communist, : Responding to my comment
“While this did occur petty Ian Tuttle doesnt reference where it took place and who she was talking to. Now why would that happen ?”smoothsailing wrote

Hewitt is one of the guys I monitor I heard that re- broadcast (Chicago WIND 560 am 2-5 am) it was pretty funny e He’s on the same time as red eye but it demonstrates the type of competition that goes on within conservative circles and how petty some of these people can be or the devices they use.
Talk has long past with these cretins. We need to rid this place of all of these commies.
The left are the soul mates of Communist infiltrators and agents like Hiss. It’s why they despise men like Nixon and McCarthy.
Herbert Romerstein and Eric Breindel did great research on the Venona intercepts.

The fantasy of a workers’ paradise versus the reality of the Siberian gulag.
Considering that Hillary was taught by communists in law school and worked for Communist Party members/law firm on the Black Panther/New Haven torture murder case of Alex Rackley, why should it be a surprise that her staff didn’t hold similar “denial” or “coverup” views about Hiss, Harry Dexter White, Frank Coe, etc?
Old Bill had his Communist contacts too, including his college roommate from Czechoslovakia, and then in Russia.
Lots to answer for.
Democrats never met a Communist they could criticize and never met a Conservative they could praise.
From what I gather it occurred while she was talking (on tape) with Dennis Praeger. He played the tapes on this evening’s show after the whole thing ran all over the internet.
I’m not sure, but it may have been an interview from yesterday or possibly last week (that was broadcast live initially).
My error, Hugh Hewitt. They are both on the same station in my city. Their voices and presentations are different, but I often fumble their names.
The presstitute was in error by trying to pin off all the “hysteria” as unfounded (there is more sham and scare in the Globalist Warming scare). She was in error by tryng to pin off all the “hysteria” as being whipped up by Joseph McCarthy (investigations into Communist influence in American government, academia, and media dated back to the 1930s and continued into the 1960s, The Crucible was written before McCarthy was even a figure in the “show”). She was in error in proclaiming Joseph McCarthy himself to be “off base” even if others in the “hunt” were more grounded. He was right in some of his rhetoric. There is 70 years of fraudulent Red smearing of the investigations that was also reckless “rhetoric”. Stalinists lie. ALWAYS.
Yep, it was Hugh...

Most Americans have never heard of Alger Hiss; nor do they know what a communist is. So one can say anything and win in the USA today.
