Exclusive: McCain Says Obama Gave ‘Green Light’ to Syria to Use Chemical Weapons

As the U.S. reportedly weighs striking Syria, Sen. John McCain blasts the president and his top military officer for being too soft on previous allegations of chemical attacks.

In an interview during a diplomatic trip to South Korea, Sen. John McCain—one of the administration’s fiercest critics on Syria policy—said that recent statements by [Joint Chiefs Chairman General Martin] Dempsey signaled to Assad that he could escalate his use of chemical weapons against his own population without significant international consequences.

“General Dempsey has to be embarrassed,” McCain said about Dempsey’s letter to House Foreign Affairs Committee ranking Democrat Elliott Engel (D–New York) on August 19, in which Dempsey said the U.S. should not intervene militarily in Syria and that even destroying Assad’s air force was not a good idea.

In all likelihood disinformation, but note that the hoaxer/hacker got the players right. Quatar is heavily involved in the rebellion against Assad. The reason, as I have read somewhere (but haven't got timme to fnd the link just now) is that Quatar wanted a gas piep-line through Syria. Assad said no. Gazprom (Russia) is also against this pipe-line since it would infringe on their almost monopoly on the European market.

The only smart thing McCain did was select Palin as his running mate, and while the country laughed at her and said it was a dumb pick I credit her with being the impetus for the later founding of the Tea Party because she was the first to use common sense as a guiding principle.

Something we need to think about. 10 years ago khadafi duck shut down his WMD program.

I humbly submit that this attack and Benghazi are linked.

I think Obama has done another positive thing. He has single handedly exposed for all to see the vile toxic racism that pervades the black subculture towards whites. Many suspected it, but there was hope it was just endemic to isolated pockets within disfunctional inner-cities, but we all know now it it virtually universal, and an integral part of “the black experience”. Practically every last one, with exceptions you can count on two hands, viscerally hates whitey.

"Ahhhhhhhh, but maybe Obama made a teeny, tiny mistake and led Assad to believe that he had a green light. Then, Assad made a mistake -- and therefore we are now justified in helping the rebels."

In his own unique and different way, John McCain would probably have been just as big a loser in the White House as Obama is.

But at least we can criticize McCain without being called filthy, racist, cracka’s.

I recall as a candidate that McCain said Obama would make a fine president and there was no reason to fear him.

This was one of my points earlier.

Assad did it before. He thought he could do it again.
