Al-Assad 'Not So Stupid' As to Use Chemical Weapons: Kurdish Leader
AINA ^ | 8-27-2013

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would not be "so stupid" as to use chemical weapons close to Damascus, the leader of the country's largest Kurdish group said.

Saleh Muslim, head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), said he doubted the Syrian president would resort to using such weapons when he felt he had the upper hand in the country's civil war.

He suggested last Wednesday's attack, which the opposition says was carried out by government forces and killed hundreds of people, was aimed at framing Assad and provoking an international reaction. Assad has denied his forces used chemical weapons.

"The regime in Syria ... has chemical weapons, but they wouldn't use them around Damascus, 5 km from the (U.N.) committee which is investigating chemical weapons. Of course they are not so stupid as to do so," Muslim told Reuters.

At the time of the incident, U.N. experts were already in Syria to investigate three previous alleged chemical attacks dating from months ago.

FROM THIS MAY 2013: Syrian Rebels Used Sarin Nerve Gas, Not Assad's Regime: U.N. Official

http://www.aina.org/news/20130826131925.htm

(excerpt) Testimony from victims strongly suggests it was the rebels, not the Syrian government, that used Sarin nerve gas during a recent incident in the revolution-wracked nation, a senior U.N. diplomat said Monday.

Carla del Ponte, a member of the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, told Swiss TV there were "strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof," that rebels seeking to oust Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad had used the nerve agent.

But she said her panel had not yet seen any evidence of Syrian government forces using chemical weapons, according to the BBC, but she added that more investigation was needed.

Rebel Free Syrian Army spokesman Louay Almokdad denied that rebels had use chemical weapons.

"In any case, we don't have the mechanism to launch these kinds of weapons, which would need missiles that can carry chemical warheads, and we in the FSA do not possess these kind of capabilities," Mr. Almokdad told CNN.

Al-Assad 'Not So Stupid' As to Use Chemical Weapons: Kurdish Leader

Who we going to believe? That guy or our own Sec. of State?

Sec. of State Kerry cited more reasons for intervening describing the atrocities of the Syrian military.. they have "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vi.. uh. No! Wait.. that's the U.S. war criminals. Now I remember. The Syrian military used chemical weapons . . . ."

We’re so anxious to jump into this war on the side of al Qaeda, but no one has really shown that Assad’s regime did it.

Also, why are we so all-fired anxious to get Christian murdering, al Qaeda clones into power in Syria?

Who are you going to believe:
Bashar Al-Assad, ALawite mass murderer or...

Saleh Muslim, head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD)?

Just look at his last name, “Muslim”. Isn't that enough?

I'd say they're both lying scum so ignore this man's suggestions...

The Kurds are Islamic, but they are also separatists in Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. They want their own homeland.

So, they have their own interests, but the man makes a point.

Why would Assad use chemical weapons within easy reach of a WMD inspection team that was already in country?

You must admit that is really odd.

Not to mention that the dumbass rebels released the news of the 'outrage' before it happened.

The rebels murdered a few hundred people - men, women and children - in the most callous way in order to give Obama an excuse to save Syria for radical Islam.

I won't say they murdered their own people - I guess that the dead predominantly belonged to a different brand of Islam or were Christian.

This is all rolling just like Clinton and the false flag operations in Serbia.

That’s powerful stuff if proven to be true. Thanks.

Because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is an “inconvenient truth” to our Marxist regime?

Resident O'Bozo was openly and intentionally giving the militant rebels their road map when he laid down his so-called Red Line.

Essentially he was giving them their instructions.

The Assad regime isn’t stupid and certainly knows that using a small amount of chemical weapons on civilians would almost certainly lead to NATO, primarily US, bombardment by cruise missles and JDAMS.

Who benefits from the destruction of Syrian runways, jets, fuel depots and comm towers?

Syria? No, it is quite the contrary, their effort is degraded.

Rebels/al Quida? These shadow groups are most definitely aided.

This is what I can’t resolve and therefore can’t support getting involved. Russia will keep Assad in power no matter what. So, our involvement can only help the al Quida groups, as 0bama did in Lybia, by giving them further access to the weapons and munitions in the region and perhaps allowing them to develop another base of operation.

Very well said.

I remember his warning Assad about using chemical weapons on his own population (something like that) some time ago.

In retrospect that was not only to prime the sub-conscience of the American people - it was also a message to agents in place.

Something is going on here that we in the USA don’t know. Obama is pulling us into this to be sure. Why I don’t know, but there’s more to the story. If you had been in a coma for 8 years and now woke up you’d be unable to comprehend what is going on.We’re backing our enemies?

The only way any of this makes sense is to first realize that this administration is backing the Muslim Brotherhood, and will continue to do so.

After realizing that, it all makes perfect sense.

Odd indeed but he’s done it before. He just figured Obama has been bluffing for years so why not blast that pocket of resistance with Sarin. It dissipates quickly. It is strange though...

Something is going on here that we in the USA don’t know.

NO. We know it. We just can't get the enemy within (the media and the liberals) to admit it.

Obama is pulling us into this to be sure. ....We’re backing our enemies?

No. Obama is backing our enemies. Unfortunately he has control of the governmenet at the moment.

The only way any of this makes sense is to first realize that this administration is backing the Muslim Brotherhood, and will continue to do so.

Look at EVERYTHING he has done foreign policy wise since he was elected. He ALWAYS backs the most radical anti-American moslem in any fight. ALWAYS!

After realizing that, it all makes perfect sense.

And always has. It's as plain as day to anyone willing to admit that our "president" is a traitor.

Here is the problem with having John Kerry as SOS. HE IS A LIAR. That is what he does- he lies.

He lies about lying. He lied about American service men! WHO won’t he lie about.

And why would we be entering into WW3 over a chemical attack that is highly questionable?

This is crazy.

” why are we so all-fired anxious to get Christian murdering, al Qaeda clones into power in Syria?”

Al Qaeda kept their end of the deal and helped the dems get as close to absolute power as they can get.

Now the dems are delivering on their end of the deal and delivering al Qaeda the Caliphate they want.
