Justice Ruth Ginsburg said she has no plans to retire from the Supreme Court and suggested she could continue her work after President Obamas term.
In an interview published Sunday by The New York Times, Ginsburg said she was in good health after surviving two bouts with cancer. She said she intended to keep working as long as I can do the job full steam.
She also said she was hopeful the president after Obama will be a fine president, a statement that could indicate the end of Obamas term is not a factor in her plans.
Ginsburg, 80, is seen as the justice more likely to retire from the court.
If Obama was to chose her replacement, it would be another liberal unlikely to change the courts balance.
But if a Republican were to pick her successor, it could solidify a conservative tilt on the court.
Ginsburg had a few sharp observations about the court, which she described as one of the most activist courts in history.
She was particularly critical of the decision this summer to strike down a key part of the Voting Rights Act, which she said was stunning in terms of activism.
She was also critical of Congress, which she said didnt seem to have the ability to move on anything.
The Supreme Court should have a fifteen year term limit the post isn’t a life time free ride.
To many of them become pals with long term hacks and end up passing insane laws.
The Ruling Class gets the best of everything, especially medical care.
The rest of us peasants just have to suck it.
That is about the best any Constitution-loving American can hope for...
A feat we can thank Arlen the idiot for!!!
“A feat we can thank Arlen the idiot for!!!”
Unlike some others Arlen is now where he can do no harm.
Democrat Presidents always appoint dyed-in-the-wool lifelong Democrats, with a spotless record of pro-abortion activism. During the vetting process, they are asked point-blank what their position is on abortion, etc.
Republicans appoint people who have filled a series of positions and remained “respectable.”
Democrats in the Senate apply a number of litmus tests—such as a history of pro-abortion activism.
Republicans in the Senate will vote for any nominee who has never been convicted of a felony.
Democrat nominees never “disappoint” their President. They are reliably Socialist and pro-abortion.
When more than half of Republican appointees turn out to be Socialist and pro-abortion, Republicans wring their hands and wonder why.
We need to get Columbia University to offer her the job of President of the University and the Vice President job to Sotomayer, Assistant Vice President Job to Kagan.
