Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, number 4 in House GOP Leadership, said the effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is "not realistic." She advocated a piece-meal approach to repeal, delay or defund individual provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The debate will likely dominate discussions within the Republican caucus when Congress returns next month.
To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic, McMorris Rodgers said. But I do think there are provisions in the law that we can get delayed, or provisions in the law we can get defunded.
The government's spending authority expires on September 30th. To avoid a government shutdown, Congress must pass a continuing resolution authorizing continued spending. Many conservatives, led by Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, want Republicans to strip spending for ObamaCare out of this continuing resolution.
Eighty House Republicans sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner on Thursday endorsing this plan. More moderate Republicans, however, are worried that such a move would garner a veto of the continuing resolution from Obama and lead to a government shutdown. Party leaders are concerned that they would be blamed for any shutdown.
GOP Leaders seem to be galvanizing around a plan to delay by a year the implementation of ObamaCare. The delays the administration has been forced to implement in the healthcare law have given us a golden opportunity to talk about fairness," Boehner said Thursday, according to The Hill. "If big business gets relief from the president's healthcare law, families and small businesses should, too. This message strikes a chord with Americans. When people hear it, it resonates.

The US Congress —and their staff and Islam
are not under ObamaCARE/ROMNEYcare anyway,
so they do not care.
Also, it is called RomneyCARE because it was
imposed by the GOP (just like gay marriage)
and by Mr.Willard Romney, himself.
Please go away!

Jim, Jim, Jim...you must try to stop sugar coating how you really feel about this.

She’s a silver tongued RINO, Jim.
Exactly.
Further, aren't the only pieces that the Democrats would agree to delay or defund, the pieces they want to delay or defund? The ones that may make them pay a political price?
Seems to me the two best ways to kill the monster are:
a. Smother the whole damn thing in the crib.
b. Or let it happen...without any sugar-coating. Let it wreak its havoc on the economy...and prove impossible to administer and ghastly to experience. Then repeal it...like the 18th Amendment (only quicker).
And how useful is that?
I find it bizarre that anyone would get on their knees and beg to be fed pure, unadulterated BS lies and propaganda.
The Republicans did not vote for this monstrosity of a bill. Why then should they vote to fund it?
And so one appears.
The Republicans hold the majority power in the congress and there’s absolutely no reason whatsoever for them not to use it. They’d have all the Republicans behind them, all of the tea party people behind them, and the majority of all American citizens behind them. Very few working citizens or retired folks who have worked all their lives are in favor of fascist/communism. Not even the unions. And that’s exactly what Obama’s pushing here. Fascist/communism!!
Congress do your duty!! Do what you were elected to do!!
Now is the time to strike!!
Do NOT piss it away!!
Some people have no concept that caving in to the Obama programs is just the other side of the coin for losing any determination of government.
The effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is “not realistic.”
Are you freaking kidding me?? We need to get rid of ALL of these RINOs in 2014 — starting with Boehner!!
Jim Rob— my apologies for this blog-rant. I hope someone with guts will listen/discuss and take action. Thank you for your post, Jim:
NO, boner....funding the DELAY will allow the reality of single payer as the “last resort” plan (their true goal) to come true in 2016 (and elect hillary Lol). The delay of corporate mandate was a democrat play— an admission of failure (but part of the plan). “Fairness”? What, Boehner- you still on the lost battle of a DELAY for the individual mandate? Idiot. Defund the process— it dies. Keep funding it— it morphs into a massive indestructible morass of absolute socialist crap.
The fact is that obamaumaocare was designed from the first to fail- a cloward-piven intentional screw up, of a massive but functional existing system in need of reform. A plan to destroy it by overwhelming it with forced rules, regs and mandates that cannot be supported. That has been the plan.
Enter the insurer of last resort— the exchanges, the competing subsidized saviour govt. The go along get along GOP thinks they can game this? Idiots— they are caddies to the main players. All it takes is guts— stop this— stop funding with money we do not have. Stop playing to the same “EBT, on the dole” electorate that will not vote for you anyway— they don’t know anything, so educate them what it means. Talk to Sarah speak in language regular people understand.
If the GOP gives the dems the delay.. they aren’t going to be talking about fairness (can you hear the suddenly waking up insurance industry lobby, who now is just realizing they are having to double and quadruple their rates as the risk pool enrollment dries up in competition with the lower rate govt. payor, thereby becoming obsolete— and are now covering their asses lobbying the GOP with this “negotiable” non argument?). The dems don’t give a rat’s about fairness. Again, these bozos accept the dem agenda and then REACT. The country is 60% against this, even with 30% still saying they “approve” of obamaumaocare (”approve” being a meaningless uninformed term of art in a poll).
No, funding the “Delay” means implementation and empowerment of the ever tipping weight of the federal bureaucracy. In 2014 the few small business and individuals who are not in a large corp. which now have another year, must by mandate insure themselves, and report this to the IRS. You idiot GOP-e continue to fund the IRS to do this task (no doubt out of the FEAR of the IRS that was designed to do this vs. patriots and the GOP-e)and you will continue the plan. It means single payer, the ultimate goal. Along the way, disruption of quality care- a population in disarray, the IRS used as gestapo for population control and much else.
A returning million plus veterans (well maybe not if Syria can be ginned up) from the middle east added into the mix and pre-targeted one could say. Many pro obamaaus are in for a rude awakening (unless they can snag obamaumaocare jobs).
It is ALL part of the fabric of this plan, Boehner. And you—Boehner— are a tool. We need brave patriots, not tools. The insurance industry needs some balls, at the very least.
Want to know a clue, that the dems are desperate in reality (unless they can get Boehner’s idiots in line and co-opted)? It is Sebelius saying “pass immigration so we can increase enrollment”. Appalling— undocumenteds instantly then would be numerically enrolled, just like they illegally vote for candidates. This is a numbers game— these racketeers. Even the UNIONS know this is the scam played on them (See: UPS decision)- the ultimate democrat constituency. So now idiot Boehner is playing into their hands, as a chicken crap “how can I keep my office”, burrowed in like a tick owned officeholder. A Bob Michel of this day, traffic cop on the road to serfdom.
Never forget— it’s fundamental marxist transformation, with graft and Detroit as the endpoint reality.
Excuse me. But that strikes me as an absurd assertion.
I'd appreciate some proof of claim...
Defund it now or get out!
THere is no opposition. That is our real problem. Devils will be devils. But there is no one opposing them. For some reason they don’t want to win. Bribed? Blackmailed? Don’t want to upset the gravy train? Just plain chickens*** cowards?
CALLING SARAH PALIN TO A YELLOW COURTESY PHONE....
There would never ever be a BETTER time for her or Ted Cruz to call these a$$holes bluff by forming a NEW PARTY.
I'd be in faster than a speeding bullet.
It is my belief, from watching how the Republicans operate, that enough Republicans will side with the Democrats to fund it. But we will find out soon enough.
Agreed.
And even if we lose I’d rather lose with my core principles in tact than capitulating to some twerp like McCain, Romney, Christie, Graham or ___________ (fill in the blank) just for the sake of getting someone with the magic “R” next to their name on the ballot box.
BTTT!
Sadly though, I believe the Republican leadership will piss it away.
