Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, number 4 in House GOP Leadership, said the effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is "not realistic." She advocated a piece-meal approach to repeal, delay or defund individual provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The debate will likely dominate discussions within the Republican caucus when Congress returns next month.
To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic, McMorris Rodgers said. But I do think there are provisions in the law that we can get delayed, or provisions in the law we can get defunded.
The government's spending authority expires on September 30th. To avoid a government shutdown, Congress must pass a continuing resolution authorizing continued spending. Many conservatives, led by Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, want Republicans to strip spending for ObamaCare out of this continuing resolution.
Eighty House Republicans sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner on Thursday endorsing this plan. More moderate Republicans, however, are worried that such a move would garner a veto of the continuing resolution from Obama and lead to a government shutdown. Party leaders are concerned that they would be blamed for any shutdown.
GOP Leaders seem to be galvanizing around a plan to delay by a year the implementation of ObamaCare. The delays the administration has been forced to implement in the healthcare law have given us a golden opportunity to talk about fairness," Boehner said Thursday, according to The Hill. "If big business gets relief from the president's healthcare law, families and small businesses should, too. This message strikes a chord with Americans. When people hear it, it resonates.

And they were the only one.........
I do not know what it will take to get the rest of FR to agree but we either do or the outcome is obvious.
Folks, I am as sick of saying it as many of you are of hearing me say it. Until we get our own house right here in order and on the same page, we are N E V E R going to do shxT to straighten out America.
We have an abundance of compromising idiots defending the GOP here daily and interfering with anything that may result in people coming together to either form another party, move to another current one or anything else. All we hear is cant, wont, you support Obama, youre drunk and 80 million other EXCUSES.
We have a short time to make a collective decision. Lesser evil with the GOP that gets us Obamacare and Amnesty...
Or not.
Choices must be made. Now while a sliver of a chance remains.
I heard Rush mention it, I read it on The Blaze, I heard Mark Levin report it, it was in the Washington Post, the LA Times and the Associated Press.
The (R) and (D) parties are like Coke and Pepsi. They are so similar they defy a taste test. They sell themselves as being something different, but they are each happy to hold on to their current market share and will work together to keep Dr. Pepper out of their house.
I have over-the-air TV only. The TV comes on about 20 minutes a day -- mostly to see the local weather. Beyond that, it's off.
As far as the lamestream media is concerned - they'll be the first casualty of any revolution that starts in this country. I suspect most people are like me in that they're sick and damn' tired of being lied to every day through their television sets.
You may well be right, BA, but that cannot be an excuse for selling us down the river.
Rush tries to deflect criticism about amnesty (especially for Rubio) by telling us that it's the ‘big money interests’ that want amnesty badly; implying our elected officials ate not really to blame for doing the wrong thing.
My point is that this is their chosen profession and they've obligated to uphold the Constitution whether it benefits them personally or not. If they're being blackmailed, like it's always asserted that Judge Roberts was, they should step down voluntarily. ‘Man up’, as Sharon Angle would say. The stakes are too high, and the situation too dire.
It wouldn't be a "third party." Since there's realistically not a dimes worth of difference between the R's and D's, wouldn't it really be a second party?
These RINO traitors are cutting their own throats politically. They will be remembered at election time as people who welshed on their promise to end Obamacare.
Rush is a member of at least one international organization (either CRF or Trilateral) that supports the NAU. Of course he’s going to be lukewarm against amnesty.
He wins listeners and advertising dollars with continued conflict.
He’s part of the loyal opposition.
“Since there’s realistically not a dimes worth of difference between the R’s and D’s, wouldn’t it really be a second party?”
Yes.
As Michael Savage says let’s just have an opposition party
I work during the day so I don't get to listen to Rush. The Blaze? Please ... Glen Beck's nothing more than a useful idiot. Newspapers? Really? A few reported it? Color me shocked. It probably got what, three sentences on p. 64 in the "lifestyles" section.
(I'm just that skeptical of the media. Hate 'em all.)
I must be dumb, but the above says that they can defund pieces of it, so, simple question....if it works for pieces, why doesn't it work for the whole?
Defunding is defunding...right?
The tragedy of low expectations...
No one ever told Hussein YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!! ---- and made it stick.
Does the liberal republican from Ohio want to defund anything? If not, the why is he a Republican?
John Boehner is a moderate Democrat pure and simple.
They won’t even throw us a bone. :(
We will never win with losers like Boehner in the leadership.
He is the first thing that needs to go.
More power to play with a piece against a time. Leverage...
...to keep you voting GOP. “We’ll kill this part for now...we promise...”
