I am watching the local city council meeting in San Diego and Filner has resigned, effective August 30, 2013.

Perhaps by 2016 the two can be "rehabilitated" enough to be keynote speakers at the DemocRAT convention...
San Diego was going to get hosed any way you look at it. Had Filner been removed by recall the city/taxpayers would still have been liable for Filner’s actions while he was mayor. The damage was done and the cit must pay.
Don’t cities have insurance for this kind of management malfeasance?

The city would have to anyway even if it had not come to a settlement. Just as with private sector, the city is liable for all officers and/or agents within its employ.

Also - while mentioning the press, am sure they are collectively gathering ALL the data that was being used for the ouster of BO and positioning it so as to be used as reasons to NOT allow Cruz or Rubio (neither exactly my choice as of this time) - they have already ‘warmed up’ when they leveled accusations at J McCain being born in CZ and Romneys father in Mexico - ALTHOUGH both had US parents and were citizens at the time, Romney GF on missionary work and McCain Father as a member of the US NAVY.
