Justices on the New Mexico Supreme Court have ruled that the First Amendment does not protect the beliefs of Christians, and owners of a photography company in that state must violate their faith in order to continue to do business.
The Huguenins today can no more turn away customers on the basis of sexual orientation photographing a same-sex marriage ceremony than they could refuse to photograph African-Americans or Muslims, the opinion from the court said.
Threatened the judges, At its heart, this case teaches that at some point in our lives all of us must compromise, if only a little, to accommodate the contrasting values of others. A multicultural, pluralistic society, one of our nations strengths, demands no less. The Huguenins are free to think, to say, to believe, as they wish; they may pray to the God of their choice and follow those commandments in their personal lives wherever they lead. The Constitution protects the Huguenins in that respect and much more. But there is a price, one that we all have to pay somewhere in our civic life.

B...but what if "they" turn out to be tall, long-legged, white women... with green eyes?
So I guess the photographers would be forced to photograph a pornographic wedding if the ‘right’ protected persons asked for it?
I must serve you through my business, could be used to force gays/Muslims (I use that group because the N Mex. court chose to add it to their explanation) should be forced to use my business.
My business will have all things Christian: wall signs proclaiming "Jesus Christ is THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life and NO ONE comes to THE "Father, except through HIM" and "Salvation and Life Everlasting comes ONLY through the Precious Blood of Jesus."
Of course, I will be constantly humming and singing Christian songs, and lastly posting verses from Leviticus 18:22; 20:13 and Jude 1:7, as well as 1 Cor. 6:9, Mark 7:22, Galations 5:19, 1 Timothy 1:10 and Revalation 22:15, proclaiming homosexuality an abomination to The Lord and inconsistent with Judeo/Christian faith and God.
Hebrews 13:4:
(NASB)
“Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
It is very easy to pick a quarrel and claim offense first.
One of my favorite novels has a scene in a nightclub in Europe, where the protagonist challenges a complete stranger to a duel (for an ulterior motive), claiming that he offended the protagonist’s aunt. The stranger, amazed, says, “what are you talking about - all I said is that the woman singing with the orchestra has a great voice.” The protagonist replies: “Everyone knows that my aunt has a terrible voice - that was a direct insult to her” - and forces the duel.
Exactly- you don’t give them ammo to file a suit. You simply say, I am sorry I am not available that day for a wedding shoot. Just make sure you don’t shoot another wedding that day, in case they check up on you (which they will). Take half day off work- do something else, work on your house, spend time with kids, grand-kids, go fishing..anything to show that you truly were not available.
Only way to fight this animal.....
It was not made illegal. e*rl w*rren and friends ceased to be judges on that day.
Oops... I mean the legislators who voted for it ceased to be legislators...
Aren’t these judges singling out Christians for persecution in this case? Shouldn’t they force some Muslims to photograph a gay wedding to prove they are not biased?
These people would never, ever ask a Muslim to submit to their will, let alone take a Muslim who refused to court. They figure all they have is this life, and they want to hold onto it.
people are forced to deal with blacks because we actually changed our constitution to provide a color-blind requirement (at least that is how the 14th amendment is interpreted).
There is nothing in the constitution that generally states that private transactions must be handled on a non-discriminatory basis.
The whole thing is absurd. What if they take the pictures but they all come out blurry? Normally, you’d be able to sue and get your money back. But in this case, I’m sure the couple would claim it was purposeful, and sue for millions.
We fought a war over slavery. Now we want to make people slaves again, be it slaves to gays, or slaves servicing sick people.
We were opened up for this with our civil rights statutes. We decided that a business would be required to allow a black to sit at a table, and a waitress would be required to take that black person’s lunch order, and the cook would be required to properly prepare that meal, and the waitress would serve it, and the restaurant would not make trouble for that black person as they ate.
At the time this seemed like the only way to purge our racial history. Did it hurt more than help in the long run? In any case, our civil rights amendments did not include gay people.
Exactly. Christians are easy targets. They will never take on muslims in such a manner. Hypocrites and cowards!

I send you all your photos by email ... it must be your ISP porn filtering that blocked them.
Says who? Some liberal dumb-ass judge with an agenda?
Hey Judge, how about you find where in the Constitution of the United States of America it says that we have to put our faith aside in the name of promoting your gay-loving homosexual agenda!!
(Bet the judge is a closet homo ...)

One of the outgrowths of all this is that it’s now virtually impossible to get a reference from a former employer. Companies absolutely forbid their employees to discuss other employees past or present with someone outside of the company.
