The Allen Police Department released audio Wednesday of a call the longtime lieutenant governor made at 10:15 p.m. on Aug. 3 on behalf of Ellen Bevers. Dewhurst said during the call that Bevers inadvertently walked out of a Kroger with $57 in goods she didnt pay for, along with $42 of items she did buy... Sergeant, you dont know me, but I am every year the No. 1 pick of all of the law enforcement agencies within Texas. The No. 1 pick, Dewhurst said. And Im a supporter of you. You dont know it, but Im a supporter of you. Im a supporter of everybody in law enforcement. And I want you to do whatever is the proper thing.

Looks like she was only ringing up every other item in the self-check check out. If she was caught this time, how many times has she not been caught. Sure, David, she's 100% innocent and you're getting my vote.

He needs to be retired back to his ranch and get out of politics. He's the ultimate GOP-E good-ole-boy.

Don’t you just know that we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg here? I can only imagine the level of backroom dirty dealing this guy’s done through the years.

a) This is an abuse of power carefully couched as being within the law.
b) Since self-checkouts have scales to match the items in the bag...how was she able to pull this off? Not saying she didn’t. I’m just curious.

He never crossed the line , but he was close. It wasn’t one of his more brilliant moves.

“Looks like she was only ringing up every other item in the self-check check out.”
I haven't used the self check out thingy at my Kroger. Twice, a clerk did that for me when the fast check out lines were fairly long. However, if I did check out using that method, it would never have occurred to me to not ring up all the items. If I didn't have the money to pay for all the items, I wouldn't have bought them.
Maybe she did have the money to pay for all of it, but tried to get some without paying for them. If she did this for whatever reason and it looks like she did, she is, at heart, a thief. She is not a kid, she is a grown adult.
Dewhurst is a rich man. He could have paid for and sent an attorney to get her out of jail. He called because he is the Lt. Gov. and thought he could get special treatment for this woman.
Todd Staples is running for Lt. Governor, and he will beat Dewhurst as Staples has never lost an election. His campaign team is the best I've ever seen and he works a campaign until he is about to drop from the effort. I helped him in his campaign for Texas Senator from the district where I lived, and he is full of energy and is a conservative.

Thanks to Ted Cruz for kicking this RINO’s butt and keeping him from becoming one of Texas’ US Senators.
Let’s do the same thing to the equally despicable Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
To: Windflier
Of course! There are so few politicians that I trust. Right now, I can only think of one—Ted Cruz!

Thieves know not to put items on the scales. Besides, an honest person knows something isn't right when their receipt shows $40 when they have a hundred dollars worth of groceries. You can't go to the grocery store without spending more than $100.

Putting aside the fact that he sounded like he had been drinking during that call, the whole tone/attitude that he had, the bullying/sense of entitlement was that of a politician who had grown far too comfortable with being a politician.
Or a liberal.
Telling the police sergeant that he was going to have the head of DPS looking in on this, if Joe Biden was trying to bully/intimidate a police officer like this, and saying he was going to have the head of the FBI look into this personally, people would be asking for his resignation.
Dewhurst showed an incredible lack of respect for the law enforcement with this.
To: Venturer

He crossed a line when he stopped being concerned Uncle Dave and instead was Lt. Governor Dewhurst.
Change the name from Dewhurst to Biden, and change the DPS stuff to the FBI, and see how you feel about it.
To: JRandomFreeper
hey, isn’t Dewhurst Rick Perry’s pick to replace KBH?
Isn’t Dewhurst the one that got down in the mud to try to beat Cruz?
Isn’t that the same Dewhurst that will be running for something in 2014?
I think so.

I’ve heard plenty. Your local Tea Party can probably give you a pretty good list of them. He’s not liked by many; I’ll put it that way.

I especially want to see that one gone. He’s the politician’s politician and so smug and cocky you know no one’s ever pulled his pants up and given him a wedgie. In fact, its time to start unseating many of them that want to take away our constitutional rights for $$$, exchanges and favors and give them wedgies...
To: Venturer
He never crossed the line... Baloney. He crossed it when he made the call.
