DUNCAN, Okla. Even before his name became known worldwide before authorities said he and two other boys killed an Australian college student because they were "bored" the boy known as "Bug" had changed.
His sister saw it; so did family friends: His American Eagle clothes and sweet demeanor were replaced about six months ago by drooping pants, the do-rags, and a vile stream of braggadocio, sexism and racism the 15-year-old unleashed over his social media accounts.
In an Oklahoma town of about 23,000 that was 82% white, Bug, who is black, sometimes tweeted things like "90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM."
A female member of Faith Church in Duncan recalled later that he'd told her, "I can't go to your church anymore because my god is black."
...
Duncan is a town that has seen the ups and downs of oil booms, as well as the prolonged invasion of drug use that has crept through the rest of middle America. "This town is a town where it's drugs or Jesus," said Cole Hamer, 20. "You either got the drugs, or you got the churchgoers, and that's what it is."

Here come the “he was such a sweet boy! He was just getting his life together” brigade.
Actually it is “He was such a sweet boy, I can’t believe he turned into a banger.”
Seems to me The Reverend Jackson has plenty to work with on this one, unfortunately.
Undoubtedly well on his way to a promising career as a rap star. How tragic.
Gangs provide what their mothers did not.
Insert obvious joke about what Obama’s son would look like...
He’ll meet other bangers in criminal college, convert to Islam, and start a jihad when he’s released in 40 years. Ugh!
Gangs provide what their mothers did not.
True. Growing up fatherless and poor creates anger. I don’t know the facts or what was in this kid’s head/heart, but I do know that race hustlers like Sharpton and many rap artists feed into this anger and direct it towards white people. It’s a recipe for disaster and the sooner society realizes that the better off we will be.
I can’t blame Obama either, but one can’t help but wonder what has happened to race relations since he was elected.
Reading this L.A. Times puff piece, it seems that the L A Times thinks that that Jesus, drugs, guns, and Facebook are the real culprits here.
Pretty good article from the LA Times??
Looks more and more like a a hate crime to me ...random but the guy was white..The only reason it gets attention is because the victim was from Australia....it was only on the net for awhile..
Hate crimes only apply to certain victims. That statement is true. That statement illustrates the injustice of hate crimes legislation.
This shit is not only going to continue, it is going to get worse until the decent people put a stop to it.
Can’t remember who said it first but it is quite apt ‘blaming the gun for Chris Lane’s murder is like blaming the rope for Emmitt Till’s lynching’.
In fact he was admitted into Harvard’s medical school without the necessity of having to study premed. He was a genius and a good boy.
6 months ago......the media ghost of “ Trayvon” Introduced him to his Inner Thug
what the heck is it that happens to so many adolescents once they get to that age? middle school age? i went to elementary school with all three races mixed, so had a good group of friends of the three mixed races... we get to Junior High school, and suddenly the races and different ethnicities group together... i did not get it... i did not drop my friends who were black and Asian and “white,” to only hang around Mexican-Americans... but a lot of them dropped me and began identifying with their groups in how they spoke and dressed... no way in hell were my parents going to allow me to dress and act the way many of my grade school friends began acting and dressing...
