Former Vice President Al Gore said he believes some Republicans are growing weary about how many of their colleagues deny climate change.
A lot of Republicans have shared with me privately their growing discomfort with the statements of some of the deniers in their ranks. Even though theyre not yet willing to come back to advocate constructive policies, there is definitely movement, Gore said in a wide-ranging interview with The Washington Post
published Wednesday.
Many congressional Republicans are at odds with the scientific consensus that human activity, largely from burning fossil fuels that generate greenhouse gases, is driving climate change.
Gore, a vocal advocate on climate change, touched on a variety of issues regarding global warming, policy and renewable energy in the interview.
He also waxed philosophic on his Oscar-winning climate change documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."
The single most common criticism from skeptics when the film came out focused on the animation showing ocean water flowing into the World Trade Center memorial site. Skeptics called that demagogic and absurd and irresponsible. It happened last October 29th, years ahead of schedule, and the impact of that and many, many other similar events here and around the world has really begun to create a profound shift, Gore said.
Gore was referring to Hurricane Sandy, which devastated the East Coast including New York City last fall and raised the profile of climate change discourse on the national political scene.
While scientists generally avoid linking individual extreme weather events to climate change, they agree its effects such as warmer waters and higher sea levels can exacerbate storms.
Those types of events could prove a watershed moment in discussing climate change and its impact, Gore noted.
But theyre stronger now, he said of storms. The extreme events are more extreme. The hurricane scale used to be 1-5 and now theyre adding a 6. The fingerprint of man-made global warming is all over these storms and extreme weather events.

why are you still printing books on paper, Al? Why isn’t everything paperless for you Al?
You use your Cheryl-Crow-ordained one square per BM, Al?
How much juice is that mansion you live in sucking up, Al? Bet it takes a lot to keep that thing cool.
Hey algore, if Tennessee was once covered by glaciers as claimed by evolutionists, what melted them so you could live there? Was no SUVs back then. You are a loser, both in an election and in real life. Huh? Give me an answer.
Yep, if that many and the coward won’t name names.
That and he has to make sure he grabs a headline now and then so that he can remain ‘relevant’ and ‘be seen’.
Constructive policies indeed. Raise taxes and grow government regulations which will have ZERO impact on an event that is occurring naturally.
Awwww, isn’t that cute? Al Gore is worried about the prospects for Republicans.
LOL! I hope so. Another good one, potlatch.
Why are Republicans even talking to this guy? Picking up their bribes?
“Hey, Paulie... leave the gun... take the cannolis”
Dude looks like a full time hitter for the outfit. Greaser with a drawl. And.. a perv.
I long ago grew tired of this crazed sex poodle.
I’m sure some “republicans” are.
He’s not in office anymore but I’m sure Dick Lugar was tired of deniers pointing out that he was the first GOP senator to get onboard with the Chicago climate exchange and his do nothing carbon sequestration scam called Lugar farms.
I looked this up. The Earth is so small compared to the Sun that it would fit inside the Sun 1,000,000 times over. The Sun is 100 Earth’s across. If you took all the stuff man has ever built or dumped into the atmosphere, it would be so tiny compared to the Sun that it would be like the rounding error on the national debt. Climate is mostly due to the Sun. For all intents, all of human civilization has taken place in an atypical period of balmy weather. The Earth’s natural state is covered with ice.
But the po white trash he rents the house out back to, don’t mind livin’ behind the massa. Works for whites too, al baby. An utter fraud.
It was no longer a hurricane when it hit landfall.
Air pollution reduces intensity of hurricanes! For those who prefer it phrased differently, clean air results in stronger hurricanes.

Yep, especially the rinos who got burnt on the creation of the goldman sachs carbon market trading company. They HAVE to have it be global warming (sorry, climate change new term LOL).
Global Warming EQUALS “Global Crossing” (see Terry McAulliffe about that fraud that lives on). Al was in on that one too, with a permanent “fee” for wiring schools for the internet (which, now we are wireless is meaningless, but still 2.00 per line— it’s on all our bills as a slush fund for the FCC). Right up there with the red-dyed diesel fuel to prove the federal surcharge on farm/trucking fuels. Again.
And NOW obamaumao wants to add 5.00 to each bill to extend the internet to the “less fortunate” who can’t get it with a free obamaphone. This is beyond maddening.
Yep, they’re all the same - got to keep their name in the news!
Can’t hear you AL.
The whole place is under three feet of sea water - just as you predicted.
Oh wait - I forgot.
That’s not sea water.
I’m in the pool.
The ocean level hasn’t come up at all.
I guess we can thank Obama and his 2008 speech about stopping the rise of the oceans.
