Put it this way: President Obamas Egypt policy is about as effective as his Syria policy. And for the first time Wednesday, with the number of dead and injured mounting, one could almost envision Egypts descent into out-and-out civil war.
Obama was briefed, said nothing and went back to golf. Secretary of State John Kerry took a break from his fruitless obsession with the nonexistent peace process to condemn the violence, but took no questions and had no policy announcement. This, in a nutshell, is the White Houses approach to the Middle East the absence of any policy and a lot of empty words.
Sam Tadros, a Egyptian expert at the Hudson Institute who is also affiliated with the Hoover Institution, is not optimistic. Late Wednesday he remarked to me on the militarys assault on its opponents: In a sense this was inevitable. You dont ask the people to give you a mandate and then sit by idly. The timing was only delayed because of Ramadan and the Eid celebrations. Unlike the administration, he is looking ahead and doesnt like what he discerns. The question no one seems to be asking is where the MB [Muslim Brotherhood] is supposed to go after they end the protests, he said. They certainly wont be going home. Instead of one protest you will have smaller ones throughout the country. The victims will include non-Muslims as is so often the case in the Arab world. He told me, Christians will of course take most of the damage. Already there are reports of many churches attacked. This will continue.
The question now is what can be done and what role the United States should play. Tadros is blunt: As to outside powers, I am afraid it is too late now...

Foreign policy ain’t fur the timid.. aged Hillary 20 years.
Correction: muslims die. Whenever muslims die it’s a fantastic, wonderful, magical thing.
Stand back and watch the fun.
Let Rubin go over there and risk the lives of her family.
She can go have a party with McCain and Linda.
Better yet - it is mostly Moslem Botherhood supporters dying. This is good for Egypt and good for Civilization.
While I do not celebrate people being killed, Obama is on the wrong side and his buddies are going to wind up hamburger...as long as the Egyptian military keeps up the pressure. These people were warned. And they chose to ignore the obvious. Adios muchachos.
It was too late after McCain and Graham and other GOP short bus candidates egged on Obama to let Mubarak fall. I've always known that the Dems were morons on foreign policy. For McCain to join them in their idiocy - I'm speechless. When Obama's foreign policy is superior to McCain's, and McCain is the media's go to person for GOP foreign policy expertise, you know the GOP is in deep doo doo with both GOP and independent voters. We're supposed to be the foreign policy party, and McCain comes up with these cockamamie schemes. What the heck is wrong with him?
Some moslems are better than others.Or to put it another way some moslems are less dangerous than others. It's in the interests of the entire civilized world that the less dangerous side win this struggle. For example...Christians were able to lead reasonably decent lives under Mubarek, who had the military's support. They're being systematically murdered under the recently deposed psychopath that Osama Obama & pals support.
Arab Spring. Obama owns it.
Obama’s in more of a hole than his golf ball is.
John F’n Kerry, globalist. He need to recruit Lois Lerner for this operation. She’s obviously able to politically murder a selected party and get paid for it.
Egyptian military knows the right muslims to kill.
Muslim brotherhood is trying to kill Egyptian Christians, to rally religious bigots to their side.
In this case, the Egyptian military is doing G-d’s work.
Exactly. This is one case where Obama's fiddling and inaction is a good thing for the world. Let him golf away while the people of Egypt eradicate the evil scum he stuck them with.
I expect an Egyptian version of the Algerian troubles. Hundreds of thousands dead over a decade would be a conservative body count projection. If I recall my survey data correctly, Egyptians are reputedly way nuttier than Algerians about Islam.
Not our problem. I'd rather have those two a-holes distracted by some other bright shiny object rather than getting involved in the middle east.
>> Arab Spring.
Leftwing marketing and deception.
In reality, it was an attempt at an Islamic Revival.
Obama and Kerry - “Y’all stop that over there, ya hear?” Right, like they’re going to drop and stop.
Meanwhile Israel is sitting back laughing hysterically at Obamas folly. Only one other thing could have helped Israel and Obama blew it in 2009. That was to support the Iranian people in the election. That one incident is why the middle east is in flames.
