A Texas teen faces six murder charges after allegedly driving a stolen truck through a red light in a high-speed chase with police, causing a crash that killed six members of a family including four children, authorities said on Wednesday.
Hector Ramirez, 18, will be arrested and charged once he is released from the hospital, according to Tom Vinger, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety

This is why I don’t approve of “high speed chases”. Chances are the perp was gonna get a slap on the wrist for stealing a truck. Yes, they have him for murder now, but wiped out a family in order to get a charge that would stick.

They used to hang people for stealing horses - we should apply that to vehicles, too!

I don’t want to live a country where someone steals my car and the cops tell me they aren’t going to pursue them because they were exceeding the posted speed limit. What a free pass for thieves to do whatever they want! Forget trying to get past state lines, just blow through a stop sign and the cops will stop chasing you.
This “teen” needs the death penalty. They are 18 so they are an adult and they knew full well what they were doing and would the consequences would be.
I wish this country would conduct it’s prisons more like countries like Thailand. You won’t find many purse snatchers in Bangkok. Their prisons are so bad it is not worth doing anything criminal unless your life depends on it.
This is why I have a problem with high speed chases. Chances are, the guy would be charged with any anything that would make the risk worthwhile. If he was a terrorist suspect that would be one thing. He's probably just another illegal who was gonna be released or given probation. I'm not soft on criminals. But I wouldn't care if this guy gets executed if it took the deaths of my family to get him convicted. The public should not be put at risk in a society that seldom does squat to the perp if they do catch him.
This is no different that shooting at a perp in crowded mall for shoplifting.

A Spanish name in Texas is NOT proof that someone is most likely illegal or anchor.
Those with Spanish names have lived in Texas far, far back into the mists of time. Their offspring are also here alongside those who should not be here. A tangled web.
I always speak up when I see assumptions that every “Hector Ramirez” out there is illegal or anchor.
In Texas, that is so very far from the truth.
I like truth. I like it so much better than the spin and slant that cares more for an agenda than for the truth.

Oh how right you are - American citizens never kill other Americans in car crashes. They never speed, steal cars, run away from police chases, drive drunk etc.

As far as lumping together I equate Spanish people who tolerate illegals the same as I do Muslims that do not condemn terrorist, they are complicit and deserve no grace when it comes to stereotyping.
Similar incident around Marysville, California about five or so years ago. Drunk driver drills into a van carrying the grandparents, the parents and two children, all of whom died. The drunk driver was unscathed. Three generations wiped out.

That will just encourage high speed getaways since the perps will know they can escape by running from the cops. I bet the criminals will love being given an easy method to escape.
