CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has voluntarily recalled specific lots of dry pet food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These lots were distributed in the United States and represent roughly one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of annual production. No Salmonella-related illnesses have been reported to date in association with these product lots.
Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Years and years ago out Vet told us to give our cats vaseline. That it helps them pass up the hairballs.
Sure enough just put some on your finger and they lap it up.
Yes, thanks. Our 2 dogs eat Iams Premium Protection, but it’s the one for old fogey dogs and is not on the list. I am going to keep an eye on this story in case they expand the recall.
Sorry to hear of Spunky....
Wow...those are the EXPENSIVE Brands that are always boasting about how wonderful they are.
Both Iams and Eukanuba have corn in a lot of their cat/dog foods.
Without comment on the value itself—since I’m not a vet or animal nutritionist or whatever... They also play both sides. Iams has a rather neutral discussion on corn being OK on their website. Not really saying it’s actually beneficial, just that it can be digested etc. Also that it has lower sugar issues than rice.
Eukanuba has a line that plays up how special it is because it does not have corn or other grains (or “meat by products”)
And of course the corn vs no corn debate will rage forever.
I’ve been meaning to see if my dog likes sweet potatoes, since so many dog foods seem to make a big point of listing it as an ingredient. He does like raw carrots.
I give my dog Kirkland (Costco) chicken. Something with high protein since he is
Wait....you have a milkman?
Oh, I’m so sorry about your dog. Didn’t realize it just happened.
My cats like fish but it makes them throw up. Maybe you should try turkey or beef to see if he can keep it down.
Yep, here in Lexington MA we get delivery from Crescent Ridge Dairy, the old style farm milk with real cream, in glass bottles. It's a bit more expensive but way more tasty than the supermarket milks. Kids love it and won't drink at friends' homes or at school the regular one any more. Makes also great yogurts, milk shakes and anything else using milk. During summer and early fall they also deliver fresh farm produce which we get as well, a crate each week.
Before we signed up for the deliveries, I would wonder why do strawberries don't taste like they used to any more. It's the age, my wife would suggest, and I thought it was so. Then we first got the fresh farm strawberries, and there it was that same old strawberry taste I remembered from childhood. It's the supermarket stuff that degraded over years into a pretty looking but tasteless cardboard imitation, not my taste buds.
We get 7 half gallon bottles each Wednesday. The dogs (now just one left) have learned the delivery schedule and hang around the door the whole morning to get the treat. One would think they are starving here seeing how the milkman's treat has become a major event for them.
My ex-husband has 6 shelties and I have one cat. He cooks for his dogs. They eat very well. My cat is on special food so I feel safe but you’re right, pets are definitely family.
Thank-you for the update. Pets are truly members of our families. I know, I have cats as family members. :)=^..^=
