On Fox News Tuesday afternoon, host Martha MacCallum and GOP strategist Dee Dee Benkie dismissed Oprah Winfreys claim that the prejudicial treatment she received in a Zurich boutique was racism, and wondered if the media mogul was pushing the story as a promotional tool for her new movie, The Butler.
Maybe Oprah Winfrey was miffed because [the store clerk] didnt know who she was, Benkie said. And heres the other thing: you know Oprahs got a movie out about the butler. It would be really terrible if she was using this story to promote the movie. Im not saying that. But I gotta say, its not fair to call anyone a racist whenever theres no proof of it. Theres absolutely zero proof. Rude, yes. Racist, no.
Both MacCallum and Benkie agreed that the clerk wouldnt have served them either, had they entered the store in their Old Navy clothes.
When we call something like this racist, MacCallum said, it perpetuates this discussion, it makes people think, People are still racist. It happens all the time. Thats damaging.
We have to come to grips in this country that we have unconscious bias, Democratic Fox analyst Jehmu Greene countered. We, in our hearts, want to be as equal as possible, but because of the way our brains process all of the messages that come to us through our visual culturethis how our bodies work, this is how our brains categorize things.

We have to come to grips in this country that we have unconscious bias, Democratic Fox analyst Jehmu Greene countered. Yes, I've come to grips with the likes of liberal anal-ysts like Jehmu Greene, and still they come off as incredibly brain-addled morons.
Yes.
She is.
Jehmu Greene: “Shut up, white boy,” she explained.
I believe she did it before with the movie “Crash”—same mo but in Paris
Oprah did this for her last movie too. Funny how racism rears its ugly head when she needs publicity.
I was thinking she was also trying to resurrect her relevance. Same thing.
Those who want to be offended can usually find something to be offended by — even if it means twisting the truth.
I wouldn’t doubt it at all. It is all business and showmanship with Hollywood. Has nothing to do with race, gender, this movie or that. It is just the way things are done.
I’m beyond bored with the whole racism thing. Who cares?
In a word-YES.
You are right. Hermes would not open the store for her so she made it racist. Of course, she made no plans with them either. See a pattern here.

I know I am.. didnt use to be.. but am now..
Not all blacks are racists.. just most are.. why not?
It pays to be black and racist.. Black racism is profitable..
As long as it is.... it will remain profitable..
It dont pay to be white and racist..
But it is SMART!... hang with whites and you may live longer... with less rape.. less attacks.. YOU ARE HATED..
Whites that dont understand this deserve what they get..
I don’t hate (most) blacks but I do profile them..
Watch them closely... else I would be STUPID!.. and naive..
Course I do despise many whites as well..
Obama has set racial tension back 100 years.. maybe 200 years.. ON PURPOSE!..
Amazing the amount of help he gets in this pursuit..
Most people seem to be “bewitched”...
Oprah the movie producer needs to be declared a TERRORIST! All she produces is bombs.
Just don’t go see her movie.
Oprah is high up in the top 1% of the 1%. She has more power, and receives more differential treatment than hundreds of millions of whites (male or female).
I was taught at a very yong age that you’ll find whatever you are looking for in life, so I better look for the best in people and happiness in myself. Many black people look for racism because it gives them a security blanket. It’s like an old shoe. Being a victim is still oool in our society...unfortunately.
My guess is the lady in the store was probably just rude, not racist. Or, more likely, the lady probably just didn’t recognize Oprah which offended the big O.
The bottom line is that Oprah looked for racism and she found it. Next time, she should look for a very expensive purse and buy it...and not get distracted by anyone who works in a store.
I actually don’t think Okra is smart enough to do that.
Her handlers might be but she isn’t
I think she actually believes she was disrespected.
Dumb, dumber and dumbest all rolled into one
How was the sales person’s behavior “rude?” She recommended another handbag she perceived as equal quality for a lot less money. That’s good customer service, neither rude nor racist IMO.
