CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (Jan. 14, 2008) The first major snowfall of the New Year blankets the USS Constitution. Despite the weather "Old Ironsides," remained open for free public tours. At 210 years-old, USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world, manned by 67 active-duty United States Sailors and visited by nearly half a million visitors annually. The trouble is, that the US Army started this in WWI and continued using Indian coders in all theaters in WWII, including in the Pacific and Europe.

The Army doesn’t spend time on shaping public relations though.

Publicity created this, and somehow a Marine radio man who was doing the same job, but using his Navajo language, became something unique and heroic compared to the other Marine radio guy using the regular code.
