North Carolina Gov. Patrick McCrory has signed a sweeping voting reform bill that imposes strict photo identification requirements on the state's 4.5 million voters, rolls back the early voting period and repeals one-stop registration during early voting.
Almost immediately following the signing, civil rights groups filed lawsuits in federal court challenging the law.

Voter Id should be a minimum requirement. No one should be able to vote by mail. This circumvents the ID requirement. And same day registration is idiotic. How can the validity of the registrant be certified prior to voting. All of these practices are championed by the liberals. Our brave young men and women are not volunteering to serve and die in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan to support these fraudulent voting practices.
In Louisiana early voting is allowed only for the five days preceding an election, and you must do so in person at a specified polling location, and you must have a government issued picture ID in order to vote early. This is how it should be.
How pathetic are these alleged suppressed voters who cannot obtain a free ID? The poor things can’t obtain gubermint benefits, attend a democRAT convention, take a White House tour, get in to see a speech by the _resident, open a bank account, cash a welfare check, pick up their pain pills at the pharmacy ...
Civil rights groups today are communists/progressives/ occupiers/losers/leeches who are bent on destroying the US by voter fraud and bankrupting our governments at every level.
Without voter fraud, the Democrats would be toast.
That was then. This is now. Today, it's much quicker, easier, and less expensive to steal whole elections than horse around with voter fraud.
I really meant “election fraud,” but voter fraud is part of it.
Ya got that right.
I think that NC voter ID is a good thing, long term.
Short term, I see one of two things happening.
....Either the state stays at about the 50-50 split that we've seen in the past couple of elections. This is bad, IMO, because it shows the inroads Dems have made.
...Or, the state goes back to a 55-45 (ish) split. This is also bad, because it means that my vote has been worthless for the past few elections.
Dems want it easier for voter fraud something they are good at
Right mr. Franken?
Without voter fraud, the Democrats would be toast. <<
POST OF THE DAY!!!
Hmm.. could be.
I see it more as a growing awareness in North Carolina that we don’t really care anymore what happens in federal elections and at the federal level anymore.
You should see the organized voter fraud at the black churches in Raleigh. They just wanted to get those people to vote for Obama- and that will continue, no doubt.
The office of President is a separate vote from the straight party vote here in NC. SO they have to give out ballots to the voters, to show they were to darken their circles. It is a long ballot.
It is too hard to instruct that many illiterate and lazy people to vote for the different other offices , even it they vote multiple times they only vote for the office of president,(which is how the conservatives swept local government here in NC).
So voter ID is good because NC is cleaning up our state. It is all about our State and our prosperity, and honoring the God in our State Constitution again.
I doubt anyone really cares what voter ID means to the federal GOP races anymore.
Right.
The Civil Rights establishment is nothing more than a mafia and has nothing to do with Constitutional rights and protecting civil liberties.
I was reflecting that one thing we should remember when we talk about all the fool people who voted for Obama ... is that maybe they didn’t. There were precincts that reported 110% of eligible voters for Obama. It’s faked. How much is faked? How many people really voted for Obama?
They'll be hard-pressed to prove hardship, since the law doesn't come on the books until 2016.
Whats’ wrong with these lazy bastards getting up off of their welfare couches and actually going down to the polls on election day? This “early voting,” and voting by mail is all BS! People should have to go to the polls on election day to vote. Makes the activity the “special” event that it should be.
“You seem to be very optimistic about our court system. After what John Roberts did with Obamacare,....”
Mark Levin has is right! We need to change the Constitution to have a mechanism for overturning SCOTUS decisions!
Democrats create fake votes in:
homeless shelters absentee ballots
senior citizen homes absentee ballots
college students double voting
cross county double voting
relgious militat in the voting booth assistance via early voting intimidation.
back to the drawing board.
IMHO....enough to throw the election to Obama....especially in key states and districts..
Another concern I have are the “new electronic” voting machines....No paper trail....Easily programed to cheat!...
Color me in the dark ages and wearing tinfoil, but I'm thinking the purple finger, strict voter rolls, and paper ballots may be the only way to have an HONEST election in this country..
Let me guess, the poor, elderly, young and minorities are supposedly unable to get any form of photo ID?
Actually, I mentioned the Pennsylvania law as an example of what will happen in North Carolina. The PA law should have been in effect for the 2012 election, but was blocked by the courts because of concerns about disenfranchisement.
As I said, little old ladies testified to the difficulties that they had getting an ID card, though from the linked article, at least one didn't try very hard.
You can bet your bottom dollar that the same tactics will be used to block North Carolina's law.
How can someone be sued for a law which the SCOTUS has upheld as Constitutional, as recently as April 2008? Such cases should be immediately thrown out. On the other hand, perhaps the “newly converted” and blackmailed John Roberts would strike Voter ID down now.
