Monterey students banned from wearing clothing with California bear

MONTEREY, Calif. —When students in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District said goodbye to summer and started school this week, many noticed a change to the dress code that seemed un-Californian. MPUSD implemented a district-wide ban on all clothing containing the California state flag, state map, state bear, and NorCal star.

Student cannot wear "clothing with reference to SO CAL, NOR CAL, CEN CAL, Cali Life Style, Bay Area, California flag, map, star, or bear," the dress code states.

California's state flag was created in 1911 featuring a red star and grizzly bear, and the star and bear became symbols for the Golden State.

A century before that, when California was still part of Mexico in the early 1800s, Monterey was the capital city of California.

Assistant Superintendent Kevin McClelland said the dress code was changed after law enforcement officers in Monterey, Seaside and Marina informed the district that those symbols are now associated with gangs, specifically, the Norteno "north" and Soreno "south" gangs.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

Lord, please give us strength.

For being a small town, Seaside has an incredibly high crime rate. Nothing to compare to that committed by the third-world peasantry of Salinas, of course.

The devil is enraged at God, as he always has been since he fell. He madly works to get people to conspire with him to block the light from their view. What he does not reveal is that he’s only a little runt before God. He can only minister darkness, he cannot minister (true) light though he can do some pretty clever light illusions by selectively obscuring light.

No the problem is not a goodbye to sweet America it is a goodbye to God! And we’re conspiring with THAT goodbye and we can STOP it, God only wants to (I gladly put it in childlike term) kiss and make up. Now if we do, the battle that will follow will be colossal.

I’m surprised they haven’t gone after state flags with guns on them.

Or Maybe they would prefer this Flag...

No ... just wear the bear.

When the gendarmes suggest you take it off ... just say no

When they command you to take it off, just say no

When they arrest you, go to court and tell them, I will wear the bear.

When you do 30 days for contempt, talk about it inside

When you've been released, wear the bear

when they

etc.

As with most things, decent symbols have been appropriated and blasphemed by the third-world peasant gangs from Mexico.

This one is on the top of the back windshield on about every fifth rice-burner in East San Jose

It's a flag from the Game(series of games) Fallout. A great post apocalypse game.

Well Neither are doing the "unspeakable thing", the Flag of the Bull and the Two-Headed Bear....

Well, this will explain it.

Does that also prohibit University gear, such as UC Berkeley BEARS, or UCLS BRUINS? I guess the neighboring UC Santa Cruz BANANA SLUGS will be OK. ‘Tis a sad sad day.
