Vermont authorities have determined that the June 16 shooting death of a Hudson Falls man who was killed as he was stabbing his ex-girlfriend at a home in western Vermont was "justifiable homicide" and no charges will be filed.
Vermont State Police announced Friday night that the man who shot 29-year-old Aaron Allen as he stabbed his former girlfriend at her home in Danby, Vt., was "legally justified" to take action as she was attacked.
Michael White, 24, of Danby, Vt., shot Allen twice with a .30-06-caliber rifle, and Allen died the next day at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt. The woman was attacked, Heather Thompson, 22, survived several knife wounds and was expected to make a full recovery.
Police said White was defending Thompson, himself and their residence on John Corey Road when he used deadly physical force.

Righteous vicarious self defense!
I’m no gun expert, and have not heard a 30.06 in many years, but at relatively close quarters, I’m sure it was loud and effective!

Shot in the act?
Doesn’t get much more justified than that.

"The guy was shot, twice!!!, with a 30-odd-6 and lived to the next day??? That thing will bring down a full grown buck!' At the time of the adoption of the .30-06, one of the key considerations in an issue infantry rifle was its ability to drop a cavalry mount.

It's a good thing that Allen wasn't “of color”.

That would be “thirty-aught-six” - where did you come up with ‘odd?’

Aaron Allen got the same justice as Trayvon Martin. For the same reason.

A 150 grain ‘06 will make about 2,800 feet/second and close 3,000 ft/lbs energy. A 9mm handgun round maybe 1,100 ft/sec and 400ish ft/lbs energy.
