Europe bails on green energy
Watts Up With That? ^ | August 9, 2013 | Anthony Watts

Dr. Benny Peiser at The Australian: Europe pulls the plug on its green future

pull the EU green plug

Slowly but gradually, Europe is awakening to a green energy crisis, an economic and political debacle that is entirely self-inflicted.

The mainstream media, which used to encourage the renewables push enthusiastically, is beginning to sober up too. With more and more cracks beginning to appear, many newspapers are returning to their proper role as the fourth estate, exposing the pitfalls of Europe’s green-energy gamble and opening their pages for thorough analysis and debate. Today, European media is full of news and commentary about the problems of an ill-conceived strategy that is becoming increasingly shaky and divisive.

As country after country abandons, curtails or reneges on once-generous support for renewable energy, Europe is beginning to realise that its green energy strategy is dying on the vine. Green dreams are giving way to hard economic realities.

The papers and other news outlets merely have new marching orders to condition the public to the failure of the green energy dream. That’s necessary because so many people bought into it. The public is being conditioned to accept the needed changes.

When one partners with another he must first judge the faithfulness and trustworthiness of that potential partner.

Anyone who would form a partnership with government, especially a socialist government deserves the financial ruin that must eventually come.

The biggest problem with solar panels is that they can’t produce more energy than the sun provides in that space. But that never stopped a good green energy policy full of good intentions.

I very much doubt that Al Gore no anything about business other than taxing it or using insider information to make money off of it.

Interesting. We’re told that the world is getting warmer, yet they put up solar panels and the world isn’t creating enough heat to create electricity.

And I quote (from the article):

“Europe’s strategy was founded on two fears: first, that global warming was an urgent threat that needed to be prevented imminently and at all costs; and second, that the world was running out of fossil fuels, which meant oil and gas would become ever more expensive. Both conjectures, however, turned out to be wrong.

The result of a fear-driven gamble with the Continent’s industrial future is a costly shambles that threatens to undercut Europe’s economic and political position in a world that is sensibly refusing to follow its lead.”

Who would’ve think it?

This is the industry that the Dark Lord was going to invest a large part of his 850 billion stimulus in and create millions of ‘green’ jobs. As it turned out he gave most of it to the public employee unions for political payoffs. Guess you can say Democrat corruption saved us from a bad economic investment.

That which was invested in Green Energy has been almost a complete loss.

The tax subsidies for green generation (solar and wind) serve mainly to destabilize the electric grid due to the intermittent quality of green generation.
