NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Four former Vanderbilt football players have been indicted on five counts of aggravated rape each of an unconscious 21-year-old student at a campus dormitory in June.
Safety Cory Batey, 19 of Nashville, Tenn.; defensive back Brandon Banks, 19, of Brandywine, Md.; receiver Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie, 19, of Woodville, Miss.; and tight end Brandon Vandenburg, 20, of Indio, Calif. also have been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery for an incident tipped to campus officials by surveillance video. Vandenburg also is charged with one count of tampering with evidence and one count of unlawful photography.
While the players were indicted Friday, the district attorney general pointed out that the investigation isn't over yet.
"Although four people are being charged at this time, the investigation is still on-going into the actions of other individuals and the role(s) they may have played in this incident," District Attorney General Torry Johnson said in a statement.
Vanderbilt dismissed the players June 29 and barred them from the campus pending the investigation. Vice chancellor Beth Fortune said Friday that their first thoughts are for the victim, a Vanderbilt student, and that the university will continue to offer her all of its services and support.

Since no race was mentioned, probably those pesky "Amish" Saint Skittles admirers. Were they bragging about how they were just misunderstood and really 'good boyz' on their way home from the library?
Let me guess . . .
Jaborian?
Ha-ha. Freaking African-Americans.
This is a rather important subject, and it seems to me the term “Vandy” is beneath the dignity the subject matter merits.
They may not wish to connect the two, but if you’re going to mention it, then do it right.
{not you FlJoePa}
They were ex players when the article was written, though.
Vandy “keeping it real”.
Explain
Any male person who gets off on having sex with an unconscious woman is no man at all. Having that sex after 3 others have left their mess is the act of a sick animal.
What should be done with sick animals is to have them euthanized.
Personally if a woman is not a conscious part of the sex act and is not enjoying the experience I would just as soon get up and leave.
What “dignity” does the article merit? Using the nickname merely saves space, it does not hurt the victim any more.
espn headline writers would’ve just spelled it: Vanderbuilt
Geez, when the thugs have taken over even Vandy, you know college football is a complete mess.
Four former Vanderbilt football players have been indicted on five counts of aggravated rape each of an unconscious 21-year-old student at a campus dormitory in June.
It just didn't seem to me that headline was very respectful.
Inside the article they refer to the men being former Vanderbilt Football players. Using the term "Vandy" as a headline for a report on men accused of rape, seemed to be a bit casual.
Out here on the West Coast, I had never heard the term Vandy before. I was fairly sure what it referenced. Should I and others need to guess what it means when skimming headlines? Use the word Vanderbilt.
If they're discussing the sports angle, then by all means refer to them as Vandys or whatever.
Don't think so.
The “dignity” of the subject matter? What the hell does that even mean?
4 football players raped an unconscious girl. Tell me about the dignity of Vanderbilt University after this crap.
What it appears to be doing, is trying to distance the men from the school name Vanderbilt.
I wasn’t actually sure if this was Vanderbilt or not, until I started reading the article. That looks to be the desire.
I don’t really care if they use the name of the school or not, but if they’re going to connect the guys, they should do it formally when reporting something of this nature or importance.
So I guess saying SoCal sucks ass is worse than saying University of Southern California sucks Ass.
Get a grip.
The police force at Vandy are militant. My GGF was an alum. Must be turning in his grave.
Fill in the blank
