DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA)
A woman said her family got an aggressive wake up call from the DeKalb County Sheriffs Department.
The family told CBS Atlanta News they were startled at 1:30 a.m. when deputies beat on their front door.
Fearing for their safety, the family said they took their time to open the door. Once inside an officer used excessive force and aggressive language, according to one family member.
After the incident, the family posted the video on YouTube.
The sheriffs department claims they received a copy from an anonymous sender Wednesday morning.
Both parties involved in the incident see the actions on video very differently.
Donovan Hall said he had no idea why police would be at their door, so they werent so quick to open it.
They never once told me why they were here, what they wanted, or who they wanted, said Halls mother Natania Griffin.
After more than 30 minutes and confirming with 911, the family opened the door and that was when mayhem appeared to ensue.
The sheriffs department says the officer had a valid arrest warrant and they were at the right home.
They said despite the familys claim, the video shows no excessive force, but admits two of the officers did use inappropriate language.
The arrest warrant was for Natania Griffin. She was arrested for not paying a civil fine.
She told CBS Atlanta that she had run-ins with police here in the past.

They come at 1:30 AM over an unpaid $1000 “fee”?
I guess it’s safer than going after gang bangers...
It's all about officer safety. An arrest of somebody safe is counted the same as an arrest of a gang-banger. The difference is the officer is less likely to get trouble from the former.
DeKalb County - Georgia’s DETROIT.
One of the worst, most inefficiently run, corrupt local governments in the nation. The county is run by black officials. These three badged-thugs are perfect candidates for Obama’s “Civilian Defense Force” as equally funded, armed, etc. as our military.
No one word I heard from the officers on this video mentioned anything that sounded like the word “warrant”.
One of the thugs said something on the video to the effect that “you’ve set us back 45 years” (implying the residents were somehow racist). Well Mr. Black Officer, as far as I’m concerned you’ve set it back farther than that. Get that racism chip off your shoulder and go find another line of work. You don’t have what it takes to enforce the law, period.
As a side note the governor had to step in less than a year ago and fire the entire school board since the county had lost its accreditation. When the NAACP met with the governor about replacing the school board the subject of students never came up once. The only thing they cared about was that the new board was black.
On further review of the videos from local TV, the residents are in fact black. This makes me then wonder just what in the hell this black officer was talking about “setting us back 45 years.”
Regardless, since both parties were black, I had no basis in calling the officer ‘racist’, even if my experience with and knowledge of DeKalb Police tells me otherwise. Mea Culpa
So that justifies the SWAT ninjas' raid on a family's home at 1:30 a.m.?
The DeKalb Co. CEO is charged with 14 felonies for illegal campaign contributions.

GA Ping.
So these guys don’t even have the excuse of a drug raid, it’s a $1000 civil fine that gives them justification to mete out this crap at 1:30AM.
More specifically black Democrats.
That's all they ever care about.
They sure wouldn’t be black Republicans. Not all of them..
If there were an arrest warrant, why did they have to wait for the residents to open the door?
If they needed permission to come in, what did they really have?
Dekalb County just got a good bit poorer.
Oh, and further, no way in heck am I opening a door at 1:30AM very quickly where I live, let alone where they live.
I thought he was charged with extortion.
This type of heavy-handed police behavior has been happening far too frequently around the country lately. That’s how revolutions get started. All it takes is one “shot heard around the world”.
I’m guessing she owed someone with an ear in power.
He was extorting campaign contributions, so I guess you’re both right.
For a civil fine, which goes unpaid, wouldn't the normal recourse, before the age of jackbooted government, be to garnish the person's wages or put a lien on their property? But I suppose what is the fun of that compared to terrorizing a family at 1:30am.
You can bet that if Obama gave the order to begin the roundup and interment/extermination of Tea Party members, there would be no shortage of jackboots eager to comply.
