I can't for the life of me, folks, figure out WHY Boehner and Congress have not to date used their legal and Constitutional powers of appointing special prosecutors to try corrupt government officials in the Obama Administration over "phony scandals" Benghazi, the IRS Tea Party targeting, NSA and others?
This seems especially poignant since Boehner said that it mattered set (IRS) agents would end up in jail over tea party targeting!?
Now they act like nothing has happened/Have they gone limp?
Maybe it's time to remind Boehner and all that they have this power?

special prosecutor generally is a lawyer from outside the government appointed by an attorney general or, in the United States, by Congress to investigate a government official for misconduct while in office. A reasoning for such an appointment is that the governmental branch or agency may have political connections to those it might be asked to investigate. Inherently, this creates a conflict of interest and a solution is to have someone from outside the department lead the investigation. The term "special prosecutor" may have a variety of meanings from one country to the next, from one government branch

You see, your initial premise going into this is wrong. You believe there are Congressmen who want to identify corruption and clean it up. False premise.
Congressmen are there to extend their power and use their positions to benefit themselves. There are infinite examples supporting this premise, so that is not a cynical view, but the absolute truth.

As I recall, Congress can request a special prosecutor, but it is still up to the AG to appoint one - they can’t force him to do so, and they have no power to appoint on on their own (separation of powers). The Independent Counsel law used to allow Congress to appoint a prosecutor, but it was deemed unconstitutional and abandoned.
